This amber beer is rich and malty, yet maintains a robust sweetness, resulting in a tender aftertaste. The generous use of specially selected malted barley helps build the typical Robertus character: lightly toasted, playfully bitter and a tender aftertaste.

Bought this 2 Litres jug with flip-top a couple of Christmas' ago and cellared it. Pours a ruby-amber colour with an nice beige creamy head that has good retention. Mildly carbonated and lacing is left behind. Beautiful nose with fruits (on the red apple side), nut, brown sugar and darker malts. OK, maybe it was more than a couple of years... as I taste a little sourness (which I assume is not usually there). Other than that, same stuff found in the aromas. Nice hazelnut finish. As always, I do like these Christoffel brews (but with a big bottle like these, you have to find the time for it). Unfortunately, I took too long.

An excellent lager with a nice sweet caramel like taste along with a decent whallop of hops. It's reddish-brown in colour and lets light through. The caramel malt is apparent in the aroma as well.

330ml flip-top bottle

I tried this beer on May 29, 2009 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a dark transparent brown colour with a thin white head. The aroma was heavy on the sweet malt and grain. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was surprisingly good. Sweet grainy malt, with a nice smooth finish. Very enjoyable. -

This beer packs quite the unassuming punch. I mean, you think you are going to get some blah kinda brown ale and it's like a mini-barleywine style beer in a cool swing-top bottle. Aroma is sweet malts. Reminds me of the smell when you steep caramel grains. That sweet worty aroma. Same thing here. Appearance is toffee brown in color, with a smallish sized off-white head. Large bubbles cling to the sides of the glass for dear life, but subside to nothing more than a light scummy ring. Mouthfeel is medium-thick, with a smoothness I really liked. Flavors are sweet malts, some light sour action going on on the sides of the tongue, brown sugar and more malt. Lots and lots of malt in this one, but it's nice. As I said, it's like a mini-barleywine in some ways minus the hops and minus the alcohol.

2L Bottle shared with family (really fresh bottle): Poured a deep clear brown color beer with a nice nig foamy head with excellent retention and some good lacing. Aroma of caramel malt with some sweet ester is very interesting. Taste is very smooth with some creamy notes with some sweet caramel malt notes. Body is full with a huge malt backbone and some great carbonation. I have to admit to being really surprised about that one.

2 liter flip top Jug filled 3 weeks ago. Decants the perfect looking Vienna; shimmering ruby-brown with a decent creamy off-white cap that lasts and laces. Perfect color and texture for this rare style. Aroma is lushious decadent toasty vienna/Munich amber and red malts...malty to the max, light wisps of alcohol and light sweetness like sponge cake. Lush velvety soft mouth feel, big chewy toasted malts, very mellow, light woody tones, a wee hint of cocoa and a light drying finish with clean dark lager taste. This is still my favorite vienna...the one by which I measure all others...it’s authentic and as true to style as you can get...Anton Dreher would be pleased with this brew.

Amber colour, beige head. Aroma is hard, paper, strawberry, malts and total dryness (no idea what dryness smells like, but this does it). Flavour is strawberry, malts and slight hops. Strawberry and hops in finish and aftertaste.

This Vienna pours a deep brown color from a 330ml flip-top bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is malty and sweet, salty and smoky. A medium bodied Vienna. Malts are caramel and sweet, somewhat smoky and salty. Not quite ham like but close. Hops are floral and earthy. Touch of honey at the finish. Strange beer, its smoky, salty and sweet. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

I picked this brew up from Green's in Atlanta and I am curious to know what this beer tastes like. The aroma is very sweet and very malty with some nice caramel and hoeny notes coming through and is very aromatic. The appearance is a very thick amber to burgundy in color when held to the light with some cloudiness and has a nice head on top that is a light-tan in color and only diminishes slightly to a bubbly and carbonated lacing that sticks to the glass. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied and very tasty with some nice malty complexity as well as balance with a nice palate that is refreshing and wet-like. The flavor is very malty with some sweetness with some caramel coming through as well as vienna malt with an aftertaste that is smooth and refreshing and a finish that is slightly dry and full of flavor and is very round. Overall, not a bad lager here but I expected some slight variations but, nonetheless, a quality brew here.

Poured a lightly hazy, auburn color with a medium sized, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of dried fruits, caramel malts, toffee, and some nuts. Taste was very malty; caramel malts, toasted dough, nutty, with brown sugar, light citrus fruits, and a low bitterness as well.
