It is a Belgian-style Pale Ale with an American twist. It is brewed with pale, caramel, and wheat malts, and hopped with centennial and Cascade hops to give it a distinctly American character. The medium bodied beer has a crisp palate and moderate bitterness coupled with the fruity esters from the abbey yeast strain. It is bottle and keg conditioned so expect a tall fluffy head and a small amount of sediment.

Strong aroma is fruity and yeasty with a hint of butterscotch. It pours a hazy, barely translucent solar yellow with a very thick and rather persistent cumulus-fluffy white head. Flavor has a fruity core, a mix of per and apple, with a firm yeasty tone and hints of butterscotch and grass plus a not exactly subtle bitter nip. Firm, smooth texture has well-rounded body and quite a bit of fizz. Don’t forbid this from your beer selection!

At first wasn't that in to this. Then I recalled it is a Belgian-style pale ale which adds some fruity/tartness...a little sweeter...and slightly more bitter than the standard APA. Grew on me with each additional sample from the 6-pack. I guess I still would rather have a true Belgian or straight APA, but not this type of hybrid.

A dark golden color with a white head. Aroma contains some spices, caramel, molasses, and toffee. Flavor is rather sweet with some caramel, candy yams, brown sugar, citrus. A carbonated mouthfeel. How could a brewery drop such a turd like Muse make something this good?

Better than I expected. A little like a toned down belgian for the yeastiness and a toned down pale ale. A good combination for the two styles, however it got a little plain after awhile. First gulp to 2/3rds of the glass great. Then, meh... lets mix this with the overly bitter brew I made a couple weeks ago and spice things up.

A cloudy golden-amber colored beer with a big frothy, off white head rising above. There's good hang time on the suds. Settles eventually into a thick film and ringlet. The nose is banana and yeast. The tasting adds with a healthy dose of cloves and pepper. Light-medium and well carbonated. Another home run from Weyerbacher.

Fresh bottle from SL. The pour was a golden-straw type color, decent sized head in a glass that normally doesn’t promote such a thing (maybe that’s cuz my 3yr old helped pour this one?). The aroma was dry yeast and some bread and citrus notes. The flavor followed, bready yeast, citrus, floral notes, fruity aspects, but a metallic aftertaste to each sip (despite it not being an oxidized flavor). The acidity in the finish was also a turn off. Not one of my better-remembered experiences from a style that I’m totally down with!

July 2009 - Pour was a honey brown, nice two fingered head and lacing prominent. The aroma and flavor was grainy with some fruit and wheat notes. A lot of grain like malt, some mild hay and a decent bitterness. A fair amount of clove and yeastiness. Some moderate bitterness...but I never would have guessed Cascade and Centenniel hops. Doesn’t have the prominent American hop flavor of some of these crossover attempts, but that was a good thing for me. This was more subtle and pretty well done, if you ask me. Worth a try.
