STYLE Bavarian Hefeweizen (‘yeast’ - ‘wheat’) ABOUT As invigorating as the morning rays of the summer sun, Sunrise Weissbier satisfies when the heat is on, too. This unfiltered, Bavarian style ale is true to its origins with all ingredients except for the water having been imported from Germany. It remains unfiltered to feature the tangy, fruity flavors of its unique yeast. The imported German malt contributes greatly to add a crisp, citric snap that makes this beer a superb summertime refresher. AVAILABILITY Draft and bottles, June and July.

ORIGINAL RATE: Slightly sour aroma. Pours transparent but a just little cloudy in my steeler stein. Barely citrusy or fruity initial taste bud hit. Typical hefe flavor on the palate with good carbonation. Nice finish, a teeny bit bitter but without any lingering or bitter aftertaste what so ever. RERATE: (4/2007) Beautifully hypnotizing pour grabs your attention with those yeast clouds spinning around, lovely. Starts off clear pale yellow then goes cloudy. Has a very thin ring around the inside of the glass for a head. Been a while since I had a good wheat and this has been long awaited. Light citrusy aroma is unique and attractive. The taste and feel of this beer is way above average. Delicious lemony taste that tingles with each sip. Cannot detect any hints of bitterness, just plain well behaved. Lovable, delicious and almost refined. Overall I would like to drink this again. The finish leaves you wanting more. Interesting mild linger than lets you know you had refreshment. You would never know this had alcohol in it, well hidden. Nice story on side of label.

Courtesy of sebletitje. Pours mildly hazy gold with nearly no head. The aroma pops with some wheat and light skin fruity notes. I also get a mild bouquet of yeasty spice. The taste is much the same with a refreshing burst of mild tartness enhanced by carbonation. It gets fruity, wheat and a tad spicy midway and into the finish.

Cloudy yellow with white head. The aroma is faint lemons, banana, and clove. Not much to it. Flavor is a bit sour with lemons mostly and some bread and bananas. Overall this was ok and works alright on a hot summer day.

Another hazy golden colored beer. Really impressively big foamy textured white head rises above. Great retention time and a soft lacing with some thick film and cap. Sedimentation as one would expect is left on the bottom. Banana is dominate in the nose. Some spice. Smooth moderate body. Bananas as in the smell dominate the tasting but in this case are a bit of a turn off. Spices are less evident, but there. An okay beer because of the taste.

this summer beer was quite nice as both a spicy wheat beer or hot weather quencher. soft body and feel, clove, banana and good wheat flavors all come through. nice.

Pours bizarrely (strange suspension patterns, etc) cloudy gold with minimal head. Aroma is sweet & spicy; typical, yet pleasant. Tastes peppery, lemony with pronounced yeast character and the faintest hint of smoke. Really complex flavor for an American wheat. Medium bodied & vigorously carbonated.

Sampled from bottle. Pours yellow gold with a tall white head and its suprisingly clear for the style (if you decant). Banana, bubblegum and clove dominate the aroma and are all present in the flavor as well. Much more subtle phenols/esters in the flavor than the aroma. Balanced with a relatively clean finish. Pretty solid for the style. Just too yeasty for me.

Yes, finally an American Hefe that actually resembles the beer style. Thanks Victory for ending my search. Aroma is yeasty with good notes of banana, clove, and vanilla. Pale gold pour with heavy carbonation. Immediate cloudy white head, but it quickly fades. Decent lacing, good haze from the swirled yeast. Medium body, filling yet crisp enough to be quenching. Drinkable and not too heavy. Great wheat and yeast content. Typical fruity banana with a noticeable clove flavor. Slight peppery bite rounded out by vanilla and almond flavors. Overall I'm giving this a high score for being a great American representation of this style.

Bottle. Poured a slightly cloudy yellow color with an extremely thick white head. Strong lacing. Blah aroma of banana and clove. Flavor is faint, which might be good for a hefe (and a nice summer day outside). But if you're looking for flavor, this isn't much. I'll pass on this in the future.

I must preface this by saying I'm not a fan of hefe's. Pours a hazy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is citrusy with clove and banana undertones. Flavor is not as heavy on the banana as most hefe's. Smooth mouthfeel with very little aftertaste.
