VERY muted in flavor. Reminded me of a trappist ale, rather than a Beligan Strong Ale. Hadn't had it in a long time and was thinking it was something else. A little disappointed for spending $9 on a 4-pk!

12 oz. bottle. Hazy amber color with an orange hue. High carbonation created large off white head that dissipated in about 5 minutes. Aroma is fruity-yeasty-cherries-grapes-spice that is fairly typical of the style. Nice flavor combination of fruit (cherries or grapes), yeastiness and some spice. Smooth and balanced tasting beer.

On tap at the Bocktown in Robinson. Darker like iced tea and hazy. Nice big creamy off white head. Stronger ale aroma, sweet and hefty. Mild carbonation on the palate. Nice taste, very little detectable bitterness initially but throughout the session that bitterness does build on the back of the palate. You would not know this is 8% by the taste, it is well hidden. The taste sensations of this brew are well mannered and controlled. Restrained unique flavors. Has a somewhat earthy hint within. Finish is not too objectionable for a high alky brew. Rather smooth and enjoyable. The finish ends up with a medium alky bite that hangs for a while on the back of the throat. One of the better strong Belgies I’ve tasted. Even better than Maredsous 8.

Aroma is rich, malty and spicy with a hint of yeast, quite inviting. It pours a clear dark amber, almost mahogany, with a thick pale orangy head. Rich flavor is malty, yeasty, spicy and slightly hoppy. Texture is fairly smooth, lively and fizzy, quite satisfying.

Pours out a dark ice tea color with no head. The aroma is of yeast and malt. The mouthfeel is pretty solid. The taste is of honey, wheat , malt and figs. I have had a couple of the beers from this brewery and they are the best I've ever had from Canada. This sucker is full of spices !
