Bitter Woman IPA is our Wisconsin variation of an India Pale Ale. This beer is intensely bitter with a mighty hop flavor and aroma. Background: Lest we forget Aunt Cal, an early resident of Lake Mills. Local history remembers her for blindly running into a hitching post and saying, "Excuse me, Dr. Dodge!" It was said that she was an old sweetheart of the famous American poet, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. And she still had the love letters to prove it! Sadly, Aunt Cal never wed. We brewed our Bitter Woman IPA the way we imagine Aunt Cal may have been, very fruity and intensely bitter. So lift up a pint of Bitter Woman IPA and toast Aunt Cal and the bitter woman you know. Cheers!

Bottled. Nice slightly browned-orange in color with a medium-sized off-white head. Moderate pine aroma with orange zest and a vanilla malt backbone. Moderate bitterness that grows slightly in intensity bringing forth notes of rich leather and grapefruit flesh. Finish has a slightly sweet uptick with flavors of sugared lemon drops and green tea. As it warms, the sweet notes become more pronounced and flavors of dates and raisins become apparent within the rich malt base. Solid and left me wanting more.

Pours a clear, amber, with some suspended particles and occasional bubbles; with ok fluffy, white head that drops slowly and leaves sparse lacing. The aroma is restrained earthiness and citrus, with a faint bit of floral. The taste consists of malt, with caramel, then citrus & pine; moderately bitter; no detectable alcohol and is nicely carbonated. An extremely drinkable, well balanced IPA.

Slightly amber hue to a golden beer with white head. Good floral hop nose. Flavor is a nice citrusy hops with some bitterness in the aftertaste. Certainly not a hop bomb but not a bad beer overall.

Bottle from bockyhorsey, another MidWest grab by him for me. Poured an amber color, nice big white-ish colored head that yielded good lacing. The aroma was full bitter and somewhat floral hops. The flavor was strong floral bitter hops, some citrus and pine elements too, the malt base light malts, light fruits. Good malt presence, good hop dominance. Thanks, Bill!

12 oz. bottle poured into a Sam Adams Pint glass. On the pour, this looks like a cabonated tea - dark amber with contiuous bubbles. The nose is citrus hops when first opened but quickly gives way to sweet malt and breadiness. Not a strong aroma. Similarly, 2-finger head as quickly becomes a coating. Lacing is a nice white map with good stying power. Taste is somewhat bitter and a nice balance of citrus and pine hops and toasted malts with some spices and caramel. Finish is dry and bitter. Mouthfeel is medium, crisp with healthy carbonation providing a pleasing bite. I had never heard of this but will now keep my eyes out for it. A very nice IPA that offers much - try it.

Clear shiny amber appearance with a rich fluffy white head. Clean straightforward hop aroma of grapefruit, sweat and grass. Medium-bodied with clean notes of crystal malts and bitter grapefruity hops. Long bitter finish of grapefruit and grass. Simple but still quite tasty.

Pours a gold-copper color with a fluffy two finger eggshell colored head. Pleasant smell, mainly citrus and some piney hops. This is not a hop bomb, but a very balanced beer. Nice mix of subdued lemon (more of the rind) and orange, with a firm but agreeable malt backbone. Medium mouthfeel with a bitter, dry in the finish. I nice change from big IPA's.

Another very solid Wisconsin IPA. Floral, citrusy hops abound in the aroma with a a fairly balanced taste. Definitely bitter but not overly so. Will buy this one again when I get a chance.

Courtesy of BeerHunter. Pours a nice clear golden amber with a tight cream head and very generous lacing. Some carbonation. Aromas of hops, a fruitiness and some sweet malts. Taste is actually not too bitter with a slight sweet with the malt then a distinct hops bitter that lightly lingers. Very nice IPA.

Marry me you bitter woman you. Really not that bitter, just a very tasty good spirit. A couple years ago at a festival phishpond brought some bitter womans for the guys so the ladies don't drink it. Every bitter woman is satisfying. My tail wags and my mouth drools when ever a bitter woman gets on my mind.
