STILL WAITING FOR A TROEGS BEW THAT TASTES GOOD! Pine and flowers in the nose, like rolling in a fresh meadow. and bread in the nose. Surprisingly darkish copper body topped with decent head and minimal lace. Mouth is slick and perhaps under-carbonated. The 93 IBU seems exagerated, its bitter but really? The malt is quite present in the flavor and its well balanced for a hoppy brew.malts are sweetish and the hops surprisingly neutral leaning towards floral.Very nice dry clean finish.

Appears medium brown in color with perfect clarity, adequate head, thick lacing. Bready malt gives way to herbal and citrus hop notes. The base flavor boasts rich, toasty malt and also strong grapefruit bitterness. There is just enough sweet fruitiness to round of the flavor profile nicely. Truly, there is a lot of action here for an amber. I am always a little embarrassed to say that I love ambers because the vast majority of amber beers are low on aroma, flavor, body, pretty much everything that matters to a legitimate beer lover, but I DO adore a good amber (see my favorite beer) and this one is solid. A big thanks to Melanie/mwiscount for picking this out for me!

Pours a pretty clear honey golden with a thick, fine-bubbled ivory head. Robust aroma is seriously hoppy, with a fruity (apple plus some pear and a hint of orange) undertone. Superb flavor is mainly hoppy, but not too bitter, with malty and fruity undertones and a hint of honey. Smooth, fizzy flavor has about average firmness, but that is this brewski’s weakest point - and that ain’t much. Maybe not worth its weight in gold, but a real nugget of nectar. Incidentally - my first car was a yellow Toyota Corolla named Nugget. It was a piece of crap, and broke down permanently shortly before I graduated high school, but I loved that jalopy to pieces. I have some fond memories of dear ol’ Nugget.

Beer pours a nice deep amber color with a small white head that quickly disapates. The beer has a nice aroma of fruit and hops. The flavor is sweet and hoppy but is a disappointment after the excellent aroma. Overall a nice drinkable ale.

Pours a deep amber with a small white head which reduces to a thin layer. This retains well throughout and leaves spotty lacing. Nice aroma. Citrus, piney and a bit of roast malt. Taste is slightly sweet and flowery at the start. Then come the hops, citrus and pine bitterness. Well balanced. Creamy mouthfeel with mild carbonation. Good beer.

scores a 99/100 on rb, and i can see why. this "imperial amber ale" is simply great. the last reviewer had this to say "I challenge all those justifiably proud of their west coast offerings to try this beer" well, challenge accepted, and i can happily say this competes with the better ipas out west. recently had sculpin and would love to have these haead to head. bright floral and citrus aroma with just enough sweet malt to balance. smooth tingly feel. flavor is a little tropical (peach and mango) and a lot of bitter grapefruit, with a splash of carmel malt. very well done! a wish-list cross-ff thanks to Lou! GREAT beer.

12 oz. bottle into a Duvel tulip I have had this beer numerous times - on draft or pulled at bars and at the brewery and in bottles, bombers and 12 oz. This time I tried holding this bottle, in pristine conditions mind you, but almost 2 months past the brewed on date. Shock - while certainly different, it was still great! Certainly it was sweeter and maybe slightly less in-your-face hops, but delicious nevertheless. It still pours a beautiful golden orange. Head was almost 2-fingers with an aggressive pour which settled into a coating. Lacing was there all the way. And that heavenly smell.... Oranges, floral and piney hops. Taste - still pretty frickin' delicious. Creamy and smooth, this seems to go back and forth from the sweet fruit to hop dry and bitter with the almost honey backbone ultimately winning out. Finish is dry and refreshing. I challenge all those justifiably proud of their west coast offerings to try this beer. It is just simply great.

Very cool! Great gift from Blue Lou. I've been wanting to try this for a hwile now. Pours a beautiful amber with LOTS of effervescense. Nice small beige head. Nectar is a great way to describe this beer. I was expecting a big punch in the face from some fresh stinky hops. But it's a very calm, soothing brew with some light fruity esters. Tangerine, peaches and fresh apple. Thanks a bunch Louis!

Nice deep orange-amber pour with a tight big white head that levels to a white cap leaving ample lacing. Grapefruit and peach hops bitter upfront in the aromas with a slight malt presence. Taste is bitter with nice grapefruit and peachy hops with a resiny mouthfeel and slight malts. Nice hoppy IPA with a nod to bitterness.

Sampled this at the Colgate Inn. Not impressed at all. Poured a copper with white head and lacing The aroma was of hops and either peach or apticot. with pine scent coming through The flavor started sweet with a hoppy finish and unpleasent after taste. Hops and peach and not a good combonation
