Clear, dark-reddish brown with lots of bubbles; body looks very much like a cola. Thin, pale head with plenty of lacing. Spicy, sugary-raisin fruit aroma. Plum, cloves and other spices in the taste. Nice, balanced mouthfeel.

Strong, malty aroma has subtle nutty and woody notes plus a hint of molasses. It pours a clear chestnut with a fairly thick light tan head. Satisfying flavor has a malty core with nutty and molasses tones plus hints of caramel and cloves. Smooth texture has good body and average fizz. A tasty brown ale that is worth finding, especially if this is your favorite style.

The beer poured a dark reddish-brown colour with a creamy tan head. The aroma was sweet malt, molasses, caramel, and yeast. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was yeast, molasses, and some roasted tones. -

330 ml bottle, at Murphy’s 8541 Irish pub, Skødstrup, Denmark. ABV is 5%. Beautiful mahogany coloured beer, big to moderate off-white head. Nice aroma of caramel malts and dark syrup. The flavour has also caramel and possibly biscuit malts, but not much else. Dull finish. Okay overall though.

It pours a dark reddish-brown with thin white head and some lace. An aroma of sweet and roasted malts, raisins and prunes, light hops, berry, and mild spices. The mouthfeel is smopoth, rich, and zesty. The flavor is of roasted malts, light hops, raisins, citrus, and spices. Tasty, smooth, and delicious.

A recent edition to the tap lineup of a local beer bar. The misnomer is apparent almost immediately as this beer is more red than brown. A nice aroma of nutty malts with a litlle bit of yeasty tones. The flavour is certainly unique. Some roasted and caramel malt with a slightly bitter finish.

Bought a 4-pack of this earlier in the week. The guy who works at my retailer recommended this to me because I told him I was getting into Brown Ales. I really meant to say getting into "Indian Brown Ales", as I haven't had too many straight Brown Ales that I enjoyed. Newcastle always seemed about average to me, so when I popped open the first Tilburg and it seemed like Newcastle I thought I may have made a mistake. But with each day that I sample a new one (on my third now), it is growing on me and seems better across the board. Smoother, better malty taste, better balance on carbonation/mouthfeel. Tastes of caramel malts and honey, not much hops at all. Also has that different yeast smell/aroma that you find in a lot of Euro-brews. He said that this was his Brown Ale of choice, and it may become mine too until I find something better.

This is an attractive ale. It pours ruby red with a tight cream cap. The smell is light and carbonated almost like ozone. But the good review stops there. The taste is grainy and cloyingly sweet. This beer upsets my stomach. There are some honey and metallic notes. The mouthfeel is watery and the finish has a soapy taste. Yuck.

Pint from tap: Filtered, clear Amber-copper color with a ample Beige cap. Sweet and sour tones, roasty, floral hops in the aroma with a nice underlying earthy-mustiness. Sweetish caramel malts in the front, some roastyness, light complexity: berries, spice, figs, cocoa, succulent fruit peels. Finishes up dry with some tartness. A tad on the thin side but flavorful. Nice drink,

Tasted on tap at the Celebrator Best of the West Beerfest on 2/15/2009. This brown ale pours a medium brown color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, fruity and nutty. A medium bodied brown ale. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are earthy. Nice carbonation. A little on the sweet side, but a nice easy to drink brown ale. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Poured from an 11.2 oz. bottle. The pour is a medium brown with a foamy off-white head. The head recedes rather quickly and leaves a decent amount of lacing. The nose is yeast with coffee, spices and a hint of fruitiness (grape?). The taste starts sweet before going more sour, which is when the spices come out. The finish and aftertaste bring on a bit of off-flavour before getting back a bit of the sweetness. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with a good amount of carbonation. Drinkability is high; if I had more than one in the house, I'd drink the other.
