Mischief is a Hoppy Belgian-Style Golden Strong Ale. This wickedly good golden ale is fiendishly dry-hopped with American hops to add a layer of complexity and mystery to its fruity, dry Belgian-style character. Citrus and resin diabolically combine with ripe melon, pear and slight peppery spice in a precariously effervescent mixture. Enjoy it, but you'll want to keep an eye out.

750 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.5%. Golden colour, large white head. Pleasant spicy and slightly fruity aroma, hints of farmhouse kitchen. Crisp and fairly dry flavour, some spicy and woody notes, moderate hops.

Wow, watch the pour or you'll end up with a glass of foam. Aroma is sweet and sour, Mouth is tart. Flavor is fantastic, makes up for everything else. A lot going on here, definitely worth a whirl, very nice.

You will want to keep an eye out. This brew pours a hazy honey gold. Head is thick and laces the glass nicely. Aroma is decieveing. Do not let this brew fool you. Yes, the notes are of lemon and ginger, bright and balanced. But first sip and this brew literally punches you in the face. Let it warm a bit and the boldness of the hops mellows. Granny Smith, ginger, lemon, and cedar are prominent. Finish lingers and the aftertaste hangs around for a while. Dry character, with in your face attitude. This may be overstated, but I would drink this with a real good hot dog with crout and milled mustard. Not for the uninitiated. Beginners, beware. Almost makes me think "Gran Cru" light. Thanks to my lovely Bride for getting this for me.

Now this is one great friggin' beer. I was hestitant to get this beer because my last few experiences with The Bruery have been....a let down. This was fantastic and whoever the brewer was and was taking notes on making a great BSA, they did a bang-up job. Aroma was bright, clean, lemony, floral with note of alcohol. Flavor was lime-lemony almost like a 7-Up, but bitter, Granny-Smith apple twang, perfumy....great. Loved every drop of this suds. -

Strong aroma is crisp and fruity with a firm yeasty overtone - and a bit of a nip. It pours a clear, bubbly golden yellow with a thick and fairly persistent white head that leaves some respectable lacing. Crisp, fruity flavor is rather sour, yet has a sweet undertone, as well as a woody hint of hops. Texture is milk-smooth, a bit thick and rather tingly. Mischief indeed! This is a worthy brew.

I tried only a few sips of Turtle Dove once (have one aging about to open soon), so this was my first whole/true sample from the Bruery. Good all-around beer. Not as tasty as some of the real-deal Belgians; a decent representation though. Messed up a little in the pouring, as I fell asleep with about 4-6 ounces to go....so didn't get the pouring right. Basically 4 ounces of wasted unfiltered muck. So, make sure to get the last 8-12 ounces all in one glass poured slowly of course. Mouthfeel is clean and crisp (mainly in the beginning as I guess it could get rusty when the yeast kicks in). Reminded me of Brooklyn's Local #1, although now that I am thinking that may be slightly better. Worth the try, but probably not worth the price.

750ml bottle. Pours clear yellow gold with a huge creamy white head that retains well and laces the glass. Becomes hazy as the end of the bottle approaches.
The aroma is funky yeast, rotten fruit and spicy hops. Weird.
The flavor is sweet malts with some melon and mint and soap that leads to a big spicy bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, this just doesn't do it for me. I haven't liked any Belgian IPAs I've had. And this one adds some weird notes - rotten fruit, mint, soap and melon. -

Sampled on 3/5/2010. This Belgian Strong Ale pours a medium gold color from a 750ml bottle. Large to medium sized white foamy head, with nice retention and good lacing. The aroma is floral hops, fruity, yeasty and sweet. A medium to full bodied Belgian Strong Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are grapefruity and floral. Yeasty and hoppy. Nice lively carbonation. Interesting blend of yeast, hops and fruity esters. Nice beer. Hides the alcohol well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
