not a bad little bitter. a little sweet...light fruit and tofee, and a very delicate hop aroma and flavor with a hint of bittersweet in the finish. not the first thing I'd grab, but not bad either.

I found this on the sweeter side as well, which is fine because I am not too fond of ESBs. Appearance is a cloudy medium brown...a little darker than apple cider but not as cloudy. Fruity aroma, like banana with that hard to describe European yeasty smell. Reminded me sort of like a Belgian. Tastes of caramal malts with toffee...fruits, hmmm..., I'm going with blackberry, banana, possibly hints of grape or cherry? Still had a medium amount of bitterness, but I wouldn't say "extra". Good balance of malts and hops on this one. I would buy again, but a little pricey. Will look out for it though if ever traveling, especially overseas.

A very nice ESB that I really didn’t have too much expectations for. The pour is a deep brown, reminded me of the color of maple syrup, slightly hazy with a scant 1/2" white head. Aroma starts out a bit leathery, brown sugar and a touch of caramel. Flavor has some toffee, green apples, and eathyness to it. Very nice.

Certainly not your typical ESB. This poured a frothy white head of small volume to top off an excellent and very dark copper coloured body which, by the way, was very well carbonated. A fine aroma of both hops and malt treated the nose. Taste was just grand, with not a lot of hop but more malt and I guess the toffee/caramel as well. Mouthfeel was just smooooth, with a moderately sweetish finish.

pours a nice amber red with almost no head. aroma reminds me a lot of a really weak communion wine mixed with a little bit caramel. flavor was just not there for me. wasn't even really that bitter and had a funky after taste. overall not worth the money i think. just isn't that good.

I figured with the amount of beer consumed in the British Isle that there was bound to be a Welsh beer. The dragon on the front makes up for the lack of standount qualituies in this beer.

Sorry, gents. This just doesn't make the grade for an ESB. I came out of the bottle like a flat forced draught ale that you'd get in an English pub.

this brew poured a murky light brown color with an offwhite medium head that diminished slowly leaving some lace. the aroma was heavily of toffee and alcohol. the taste went along the same tracks as the smell, additionally there was a healthy amount of carbonation, that made the brew almost like sweet champagna. mouthfeel was crisp like a lemon lime soda. over all this was a pretty good brew.

I love this beer, drink it often, and am rating it high. That said, this does not taste like an ESB; if you want a typical ESB, look elsewhere. It has hops, but in the background. The sweet and sour aroma of alcohol and malt matches the rich, blended flavor. Woody with a fruity flavor like real cherries, a tiny bit of bitter behind it. It is smooth, bold, substantial, and has a strong but pleasant sweetness.

This beer pours murky brown with a very thin white head that disappears instantly. The aroma is sweet molasis, grape, and light hops. The mouthfeel is very thin and flat, no carbonation to speak of. The flavor is vinegar, alcohol, and a toffee/caramel taste. However, each of these are very weak. This beer has a good flavor, but those flavors just aren't strong enough. I plan to rerate after having other ESB's.
