A gem from my Asheville Beer Trip to Bruisin' Ales. An Imperial Pale Ale the label boasts. Pours a slightly hazy amber-orange with a nice tight tall white head and near perfect lacing. The aroma is balanced with sweet caramelly malts, a touch of the rye and earthy fruity hops - grapefruit and peachy. Initial taste is slightly sweet and somewhat thick then the hops bitter cuts the sweetness right away followed by some of the rye qualities in teh background. This is a very nice big beer.

I have to say this is not one of my favorite breweries so I may be a little biased but this beer pours a hazy golden orange with a thin white head the aroma is that of grass with a strong skunky smell at the end. The taste is off a bit with that same grass taste with a the middle being full of hops but the end is very alocoholic to me.

big hops upon opening. oddly enough, more balanced with a big malty bacbone in the aroma after the pour. it was nice, but i'd have preferred the fresh hopiness. medium bodied, chewy and slick. slightly dry finish after a bittersweet flavor with a ton of malt and earthy hops. not up to par with Hop Rod, the king of Rye beers, but quite good. Labeled an imperial pale ale, not an ipa. solid brew. too much age?

quite a hop kick, aggressive and old man like .. .. fine head, even finer lacing .. tons of metal can hops and asprin .. abit muddled but ridiculsly easy to drink.. not a bad brew, i have never stepped on a baby turtle ...

Pours thick hazy golden, no head. Medium sweet, soft and full boded with notes of caramel and rye bread. Loads of hops simmer above. Lingering very bitter finish.

I thought their regular Rye Pale Ale was pretty good but nothing special but double the recipe and we have this tasty beer. Deep amber colored with a moderate foamy head. Pretty nice citrus fruity hoppy aroma with some rye malts evident. Rich caramel, grainy malts mixed with bitter hops with a touch of citrus fruits and we have a delicious blend of flavors. This is a seasonal beer so if you see it I definitely recommend giving it a try!

Excellent! I had this "over" Crystal hops, so that affected the taste, but I feel that I can give a fair judgment to this beer. Its beautiful dark amber-brown is very tempting, and the aroma is hoppy but not "piney." Taste is delightfully hoppy with minimal bitterness. Very pleasant to drink, this is a beer one should sip and savor.

Awesome brew overall, tastes delicious and refreshing on tap. This brew pours a brilliant orange-copper colour very deep with a soft head that stays around for a while. nice lacing, and lots of fruit flavor. full astringent hops on the palate.

Golden colour, not much head. Aroma American hops, with clear Amarillo notes. Flavour is caramellish, flowery hops with hints of honey. Hops and rye in aftertaste.

This pours an opaque amber/orange color. The aroma is of citrus, some caramel and candy sugar. The flavor is citrusy sweet with some hoppiness. I'd almost call it an American Strong Ale with a hoppy character. Very nice beer
