330 ml bottle, from Selfridge’s food store, London, as Whitstable Oyster Stout. ABV is 4.5%. Pitch black colour, moderate to low tan head. The aroma is roasty with notes of smoke, tar and salt water, hints of coffee and dark chocolate. Smooth mouthfeel, light bodied. Dry flavour, roasty notes with coffee and smoke, moderate bitterness, slightly salty finish with a hint of liquorice. Pleasant to drink.

Quite possibly the weakest stout I have ever tried. Pours a dark black with a brown head. Both the aroma and flavour were severely lacking in roasted malt character and it was quite watery. Easily drinkable, but also easily avoidable.

Cask@Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Dark ruby red colour, brown mediumsized head. Aroma roasted malts as well as coffee. Smoked and roasted flavour with sweet toffeeish hints. Some chocolate also noteable, but no coffee at all in the flavour. Tnx to omhper, for recomending this before leaving for the OMH-rating session.

Quite probably the best stout I have ever tasted, and now it is no more. Beautifully balanced dry stout with roasted grain maltiness and lingering hop palette. Had a bad batch once (retailer's fault not brewer's!)and spoke to brewer which in turn ended up with me scoring a keg for our beer festival. very unusual as he only ever bottled it. Needless to say it was fantastic Brewery had chequered history and John D has now decamped to Foreign fields. Hope he comes back soon. God bless you John!

Black with a low light brown head. Strong coffee aroma with notes of dark chocoalte and salt. Black coffee, salt and cocoa in flavour with a dry salty aftertaste. Quite tasty.

Dark black. Came across opaque in my 20 oz pint glass. Head is wimpy and doesn't last. The flavor and aroma are mild, slightly sweet, some chocolate, very low coffee/burnt flavors. There's an odd flavor underneath that meshes with the fruitiness. I can't really describe it. I don't know if this is one of the Oyster Stouts that uses the actualy oyster juice or oyster shells, but if it is, that may be where that flavor comes from. I'd have liked a chunkier stout. Mouthfeel has a touch of chalkiness.

Dark black color. Medium head. Aroma is chocolate. A medium bodied sweet stout. Malts are chocolate and coffee. Hops are slightly spicy. Nicely balanced. Coffee and chocolate with a touch of vanilla. Smooth and mellow. Very easy drinking stout. Nice dry finish. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is dry and clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

This is a lightly carbonated, jet black stout w/ a slightly sweet flavor. It's an easy drinker. As described, it has chocoloate undertones which are very nice

This is fairly thin and unimpressive. Definitely overrated. Poured very black with no head. Had a sweet maple and Coca Cola aroma. The taste was light and smoky with a little salt and must. Nothing I would try again.

Nice and smooth stout. Not as dry as Guinness.
