Rated July 2010. Courtesy of Blazer06. Bottle with very odd (to me) pull tab bottle cap. It pours mahogany with off white head. The aroma is roasty, out of place dark fruitiness, brown sugar, spices and chocolate malts. It smells a bit disjointed. The taste is prickly with carbonation and thin in body creating notes of roasted malts, some spicy yeast, some mild cherry meat, more spices, chocolate malts and a thin layer of earthiness. Interesting.

330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.2%. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Pleasant aroma of hops and moderately roasted malts, hints of seaside (the oysters? - or is it just my imagination?). Silky smooth and very pleasant flavour, mild roasty notes, well balanced hops. Truly enjoyable, impossible to dislike.

330 ml capped bottle, as a 5.2 % ABV. Poured in a stemmed half-pint glass a clear and dark brown-red coloured O A with a one finger tan and soapy foamy head that had a mid-sized retention and tons of micro bubbles. Low carbonation. Poor lacing. The aroma is roasted malts, burnt coffee beans and spicy with notes of vanilla and licorice. The flavour is roasted malts, roasted coffee malts, dark chocolate, light viscous and ashes. The mouthfeel is light crispy, sparkling and quite smooth. The texture is watery. This medium bodied O A has a dry roasted malts finish. The added oysters are not easily ( if it is possible ! )identifiable, may be in or with the viscous feeling. Overall a pleasant Irish Stout.

This appears to be one of the most widely available beers from this brewery. Black pour, short head, some lacing. Found it quite quite, quite heavy on the mouth. Very malty with some chocolate, found it very heavy. Mollasses and sourdough and rye bread a bit. Good brewery, good beer, pricey.

Acquired at a restaurant for the first-ever meeting of the Alexandria Brew Crew with Foam Dome, mwiscount, and Frodo_Baggins. Ruby black with a dense cap. Sweet, tart, and surprisingly spicy aroma with a little orange to it. Flavors, in order: tart, briney, smoky, sweet, faint trace of spice. Unsticky, not heavy, good carbonation. I didn't know what to expect in this style, but I enjoyed this.

Pours a transparent black with a small head that disappears quickly. Aroma is rich with hints of chocolate and coffee. Slight carbonation. Tastes is heavy of metal, very overwhelming but not undrinkable. When you cant taste the metal the lingering taste is what you would expect from a skunky beer in a green bottle but this one was in a black one. Never having oysters before I could not tell you if you can notice them in the beer or not. This beer is not my idea drink.

I think I'd rate this higher if I were drinking this with a meal, maybe some oysters. Overall it's a bit thin and sharp. Not much head and sweeter than I thought it should be. Haven't had many oyster stouts but I'm not sure I''ll remember this one anyhow.

11.2 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a medium creamy light tan head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is a bit subdued - sweet roasted chocolate malts.
The flavor is sweet chocolate malts, roast and maybe some salt with a dry, chalky, light bitter black patent malt finish. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and a bit watery.
Overall, an OK stout - sweet and dry. -

wish list cross-off. having liked their red more than the previous rating would indicate, i had high hopes for this as it was a 93,4 going in, and I really dig oyster stouts, but in that regard this beer was an utter failure. almost no brine or oyster presence AT ALL. What the hell?! There was a strong herbal/rosemary-ish aroma and flavor and light stout in the background, and that was pretty much it. MAYBE if I wasn't looking forward to a good oyster stout, this beer wouldn't have pissed me off so much, but it tasted more like a spiced ale or weird saison than an oyster stout, and was a total let-down. #2 oyster stout my ass :)

Good flavor....just is lacking some body...so what's here is on the thin side. Otherwise, I would rate the flavor and overall an 8. Chocolate malty with some added sweetness from the oysters. Almost like a porter in feel. Found it too pricey to get a 4-pack, so just sampled one. Glad I did cause not quite worth the tag. Think I prefer something like Flag Porter for about 60% of the price.
