Dry Irish Stout, it has light body, low calories compared to other brews, low carbs and low alcohol, around 4.5%. This is not a heavy beer. It is brewed with 5# of oysters, shell and all. In an effort to distinguish themselves from the Pub Up The Way, Irish and English brewers would add the local oysters to their brews. There is no distinguishable oyster flavor in the beerbut they add Sea Salt, Calcium and other Minerals that become part of the overall flavor. There are some other micro-brew oyster beers available on a seasonal basis.

Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8
Taps opaque coffee sable with a nice light tan head. Aroma presents smoky roast malt, quality coffee and licorice tones. Flavor delivers all at the aroma promises and adds a hint of oyster. Yes, oyster indeed. Mouthfeel features body that seems thin for a stout, and some decent fizz. Get moony and stoned.

Ahhh, my first Oyster stout. On tap at the Oysterhouse nano-brewery in Asheville, NC. Opaque, black, small thin brown head. Mouthfeel, medium feeling, not too heavy, very creamy. Taste is sort of salty, gritty, and very unique. Unlike any stout I've had before. Nose is lighter, toffee scented with a sprinkling of coffee. Finishes light and semi sweet.

This poured a pitch black color with a white head. The aroma contains a great deal of coffee and some licorice. The flavor is rather bitter perhaps a hint of musk with more coffee as the primary flavor. The palate was a bit thin. Overall this was an ok stout.
