1992 Vintage, corked bottle with wax seal. had some friends round over new year and this was the best of the bunch, against some stiff opposition. Deep red colour, no head, little carbonation. Just perfect though, if you cllosed your eyes, it could almost have been a Kriek. Cherry flavour initially, then sweetness then warming alcohol. Very little hop taste and definitely no aroma. 5/5 guys voted it their fave against Westy 8, Thos Hardy 1994, Courage Imp Russian Stout 1991, Good King Henry 2007, HTBC Imp Redoubt Stout. Some night - I now have to restock the cellar.

i have waited years to try this - and now I feel so disappointed. Looked ok in glass, smallhead that rapidly disappeared. Raise it to the lips and then... nothing! Most Belgian tripels would knock this into a cocked hat - some dubbels too. I really don't know what the fuss has been about. Sure it is hard to get hold of, and with the weight of expectation, perthaps i was expecting too much. Give me a St Bernardus 8 or 12 anyday

Given this by a friend who raves about it. Poured nicely, good carbonation and nice looking cappucino head. Jet black beer, looked great unfortunately did not live up to expectation. Mouthfeel was thin despite lactose in brew. Not a classic stout but ok. BTW the island of Malta won the highest civil award for bravery during WW2 - that is the whole island.

Great Googly-moogly what a hoppy beer. Great colour orage/red hues and hops in abundance. Was very easy to drink despite alcohol level and IBU level. Did not taste 7.7 / 100. Well crafted beer as could still taste malt through the hops

Had to think long and hard how to classify this beer. Smooth dark and rich, it punches way above its weight drinks like 6%. Cnditioned for six months and released in small batches, it is malty with a lingering hop and malt finish. Extra-ordinary!
