BALTAS beer (5.2% vol.) is not filtered, it has a distinctive and exceptional taste and is made of wheat malt. This is the first beer from ÐVYTURYS traditional collection. This collection is meant to introduce beer fans to the kinds of beer that are already forgotten in Lithuania.

Pours a cloudy light yellow, not unlike pineapple juice. 4-5 finger white head that lofts a damned while. Nice amount of carbonation. Aroma is heavy on the banana and cloves. Pinch of lemon as well. Body is light yet flavorful. Hints of wheat, light clove, and sugar. Slight sticky creaminess to it which is unlike the body which is watery. Finishes off with a lingering sweet wheat flavor. Refreshing. I like it. Cheap to boot. Good gateway beer. Throw the yeast away, gives it a metallic taste that is not very good.

Served poored in glass. Hazy golden yellow color, slight foam head. Low on carbon gas, not too sweet. Some fruit taste, but also barley, wheat. Bit dissapointing for this brand.

It pours a hazy yellow with a fairly thick white head and some good lacing. An aroma of wheat malts, lemon merangue, banana pie, vanilla, coriander, and other spices. The mouthfeel is smooth and fairly rich. Flavors of wheat malts, hops, lemon and citrus, banana, vanilla, and coriander and other spices. Not bad for a Russian hefe!

Sampled RBESG 2006 Grand Tasting, as Svyturys Baltas Kvictinis Alus. ABV is 5.2%. Golden colour, hazy, large head. Typical weissbier aroma and flavour: cloves and ripe bananas. An okay weissbier.

09.01.05 Clouded, deep straw color with creamy white head of dense and lasting foam. Aroma is lemon/lime citrus, somewhat artificial, background touches of banana and some corrianderish spice. Palate is creamy, full, and biting tart (for a wheat). Cookie, lemon. Lingering light banana now and later flavor and oily spice, corriander, fennel. Refreshing, drinkable, and all around nice wit.

I was highly underwelmed with the Ekstra from this Baltic brewery, and didn't really hold much in the way of high expectations with this, to be honest. And you know what? I'm still not all that impressed with this Lithuanian brewery.
Grabbed my less-often-used tall Schneider Weisse Hefe-Weizenbier 0,5L glass, since I wanted to make sure that I had the entire bottle (plus yeasty dregs) in a single glass, to give this beer as much of the benefit of the doubt as possible. And no -- not that you should even think about asking me -- no lemon slice, thank you very frickin' much! ;^)
Big mounding head of angel-white foam, topped off with the more tannish yeast dregs from the bottom of the bottle. Hazy yellow, of course.
Adequate in the nose -- but not a whole lot in the way of the true banana&clove that I like to seek out with this style. But adequate, just the same.
But where this beer really misses the mark is right where you would expect the "make-or-break" point to be: the flavor profile. Basically, this is really kinda blah for the style. Yeah, *some* refreshing wheaty highlights. And yeah, "some" banana&clove highlights come into the play. But all seems a bit too tame and reserved for a style I really look for to quench a Summer thirst.
Mouthfeel is another problem area, IMO. Basically, this seems a little sweet and cloying in the mouth (especially the front and middle). No show-stoppers to speak of..., but nothing praise-worthy, either.
Drinkable? Yes. But I found myself getting rather bored with this, to honest. Way too many other (better) Hefeweizens -- from both sides of the Atlantic -- to really want to muster much enthusiasism over this rather C+ offering....

Please note that this one is first Lithuanian white beer. Its flavour is realy original. Svyturys brewery succeeded to brew a different beer from many many world-wide white beers. I would suggest to try it for everyone!!!
