Lily Flagg Milk Stout is named for Huntsville's most famous quadruped. A prize cow owned by local plantation owner Samuel B. Moore, Lily Flagg was honored as one of the world's best butterfat producers in 1892 at an exposition in Chicago. This dark, rich beer contains tons of roasted malt goodness, hints of chocolate and coffee and a creamy mouth feel from the addition of milk sugars during the brewing process.

Pitch black with a tan head. Aroma contains some milk chocolate and coffee maybe some dark fruit. The flavor is somewhat sweet but also some sourness. Lots of chocolate and coffee in there. Overall pretty good.

Pours a rich coffee brown with a thin light tan head. Aroma has notes of coffee and molasses. Flavor starts with caramel and adds waxy semi-sweet chocolate and molasses notes, plus a hint of coffee. Texture is dusty and fairly firm. Go straight to Ale and enjoy one!

Would have assumed this was a dry stout if I had not seen the can. Light and dry with a good roasty quality. Didn't pick out too much lactose sweetness. A metallic hint throughout. Nutty and balanced. Easy bodied for a stout. Nice looking pour.

Nice milk stout, but lacks the depth of character and richness to make it truly great. Hopefully as the brewing process matures that can be remedied because I really enjoyed this one - wanted to enjoy it more. Lots of roasted malt and chocolate in the nose and on the pallette.
