Pours a very dark mahagony that verges on black. The tan head builds easily and fades slow enough to get noticed. The aroma is like charcoal and chocolate. Very porter like. The coal/roasty character carries into the flavor and that part lingers into the finish while the overcooked chocolate cake thickens up the middle. Good carbonation and a nice dark lager that isn’t far from a porter except for the whole yeast issue.

Black brew which shows a ruby heart when held to the light. Good roasted nose. Light body which is a slight let down. Good malty flavor, decent doppel. Hoped for more.

Stoudt's brews are always fun to try. This one had a beautiful light tan coloring with lots of foam action on the top. The aroma was slightly sweet. The taste was smooth and refreshing and also a faint sweetness. There was just a hint of an aftertaste.

Medium red brown color. Medium sized white foamy head,. Aroma is malt, sweet and citrus. Medium bodied dunkel. Malts are fruity and sweet. Spicy hops. Touches of banana and clove. Some complex malt flavors. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Murky brown color with a thck head and nice lacing. I was the only one at the tasting that thought anything of this stuff and I really liked it. Tastes of chocolate, dried fruits and a ton of makt.

This brew pours with a deep reddish-brown body topped by a thick head with lots of lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet and caramelly with a slight hop note and a nice maltiness. The flavor is very similar with a slight candy sugar note. Light to medium bodied and watery.

3/8/01 this reddish brown colored beer poured a large light tan head. Prominent tastes are malt, and sweet raisins
