"Vom Fass ", draught, poured in the brewery tap room a deep ruby brown colored beer with a thick light beige foamy head that had a long retention. Great lacing. The aroma is light smoked malt, dark chocolate, coffee , hints of nuts. The flavour is roasted malts with notes of coffee and chocolate. The palate is very smooth. A medium bodied and nice balanced beer. A long light bitter finish combined to a sweet malty effect. A superb beer !

Fränken Bierausflug, Day#1, Brewery#2, Beer#2. Poured a deep ruby brown vom Faß with a giant foamy tan head. Little nose but quite the lively, fresh palate. Sharp bitter-sour flavor with the subliminal sweetness of lightly roasted malt. Excellent; well-flavored and beautifully balanced. Kyle says "surprisingly friendly and clean" that belies its bold, intimidating appearance.

Bottled. Rubyish amber colour, mediumsized beige foamy head. Aroma is mild roast, some grass, malts and breadyness. Flavour is sweet malts, mild earthyness and caramel,. Nicely balanced brew. Big caramel malts in aftertaste.
