It's been said that "Gravity Sucks." Simple enough. Well, we at Stone have identified gravitational forces in the beer world. And we have come to the conclusion that they, well, see above. So we avoid these less-than-desirable gravitational forces. We avoid dumbed-down flavor profiles and the vigorous pursuit of the lowest common denominator. We avoid big dollar marketing mentalities. We avoid additives, cheap adjuncts, stabilizers and chemical preservatives. So in the defiance of gravity we bring you Stone Levitation Ale. This deep amber ale has rich malt flavors, a big hoppy character, citrus overtones (courtesy of the hops and our special brewers yeast) and modest alcohol. Rated Nov. 2006. 12oz bottle. Clear copper color with off white head. Solid citrus, orange to grapefruit, hop aroma. Also a hint of malt. Flavor starts off with citrus hop flavor and hop bitterness. The flavor recedes just about midway and softens into a hop and slightly malt aftertaste.

Clear amber pour with a thin white head. Aroma of citrus and earthy hops. More balanced flavor--plenty of citrus hop notes but offset just nicely by a strong malt presence. Highly drinkable with so much packed into such a "light" (low ABV) beer.

Pours slightly hazy amber with an eggshell colored two-finger thick head. The head dissipates slowly. Some nice lace is left behind. The aroma of piney hops is strong. There are also citrus and malt aromas as well. It's a very earthy smell. The big hop flavors hit up front to perfectly support the mild malt flavors. The citrus and sweetness are subdued, but present. It's incredibly well balanced. There is a slight bitter aftertaste. The body to this beer is on the light side. The carbonation is not strong, but this beer is still very easy to drink. Overall, this is another solid offering from Stone, it's a sessionable hop forward ale.

Pours a bronze color. Smell is of hops, citrus. Taste is more malty than the smell, hops are also apparent, well balanced. Overall an easy drinking and quality beer.

The king of amber ales. A beautiful hazed copper coloiured pour with a thin tan head. Holy wowzaa....tons of citrusy hops in the aroma. There's also some spice and caramel malt for good measure. The flavour is a nice balance between the caramel malts and the citrusy hops. Definitely the king of amber ales

Decent hop nose with a nice appearance, brilliantly clear with an amber/brown color. Definitely a malty beer with some hops back, light mouthfeel and easy to drink. Nothing remarkable on this one but I think that is what they were going for, this is beer flavored beer.

Unique beer and yet forgettable I think. An amber that is malt specific, yet not sweet, very thin without being too watery. Wait, maybe it is reidclously flavoured water and that is why it drops down the hatch so quick. Not terribly carbonated. Flavours of fuzzy peaches, maybe a bit of red bull aroma, but predominately, not much. Its gone, and Ive forgetten anything else I wanted to say. I think that is a conceptual picture of the beer on its own.

Pours a dark red brown color without a whole lot of fluffy head. Citrus hop aroma and flavor with plenty of malt to back it up. A bitter, dry finish. Very clean beer. Not very strong so you can actually drink more than a bottle of this Stone beer.

When trying a Stone Brewery beer, how could you expect anything less than a good, well-crafted beer? This one is a mahogany colored beer with a medium sized creamy textured light tan colored head. Disappears all too quickly but the big ringlet and light soapy film left behind is impressive. A bright pine and citrus hop presence in the nose. That same hop tasting, citrus over pine is sharp but never oppressive. Light, cisp drink with lots of carbonation makes this another Stone beer never to pass up.

June 2009 - Beer pours with a fluffy head and a beautiful amber/copper color. The aroma was prominant hoppage, but the flavor was a fairly balanced amber ale, full of caramel with some citrusy hops that may have been a little hoppier than a typical amber, but not as much as I expected from this one. A fairly good session beer, even though there are equally enjoyable options at a lesser price tag.
