A dark, hoppy medium-bodied ale with a complex and flavorful roasty character. This beer is hand-crafted using five select malts and achieves an assertive hop flavor and aroma from several additions of Palisade hops.

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7
Dark brown pour with smallish white head and a little lacing. Aroma was roast and coffee. Flavor was deep coffee, chocolate and a touch of lactic (just the right amount). Very good porter. I'll knock it down one in overall, because it wasn't very "robust" (very little hop presence), but I still very much enjoyed this one.

Brown in appearance, nice initial off white head, fairly weak retention for the style, ok lacing. The aroma was coffee and some light roasted notes, not quite smokey. The flavor was coffee and some roast, and a mouthfull of bitter hops at the end. Finishes somewhat clean, no lingering aftertastes, yet the hops were flavorless. No pine, no floral, no citrus notes at all. I don't know much about Palisade hops, but I'm guessing they don't have a lot of character for aroma or flavor. Mouthfeel was light-moderate.
