Very disappointed. Always go to a local liquor store to buy beer and pick one thing that I never have had. This was bad. Poor appearance and just an odd flavor. Flat finish. Citrus slightly but bad. Will not buy again. Still have 2 or 3 at the house if anyone wants one.

One of the best White Ales that I've sampled. Even better, it's from Belgium. How can you go wrong? Smooth, crips, refreshing. Flavor is there too. Has that Belgian feel and taste, without the heaviness of the stronger ales. Cloudy medium yellow appearance. Flavor is a good balance of wheat, hops, and some fruitiness like banana with light spice. Above average carbonation gives it an airy/frothy head....be careful when pouring. Summer is pretty much here in Florida, so give this one a try.

das Sterkens Wit, ingested July 5th 2009 @ pretty much 7:30pm ...
.. Pours a very clear gold with a lychee juice haze ...
light but firm low head, light lacing...
lisa, its your birthday!
light perfume, coriander, and honey in the nose.. .
wonderful light fruitiness and perfumey coriander flavours, with hay, gummi lifesavers, pear, and honey flavours, wow, very happy flavours!! ..
.. . . funny, i never have sout out witbiers, i have never really craved witbiers, but i seem to fall for them nearly every time, i’m a sucker for the wits during the summer!
..try this, nice and light with a delicious flavour profile!!

At first the aroma started off a little weird with alcohol, a little wheat and hints of fruit, as it warmed the alcohol disappeared and the fruit became more noticeable with hints of apricot and faint notes of peach. Body was a light peach color with a fizzy cap that faded quickly, not much lace or head to speak of. Mouthfeel was light but not in a bad way,and the carbonation gave it a spritzer like quality. Flavor of fruit, mostly citrus like, and some wheat. Overall this one got better as i drank it, its not a great wit, but its better than i expected.

A hazy straw colored body upon pour. It holds up a robust white frothy head that unfortunately doesn’t have much staying power. It settles into a less than impressive lacing. The mouthfeel is clean and crisp. There’s wheat and coriander in the nose. There’s some sweet citrus to the palate with spice and wheat. Not a bad summertime drink.

03.13.05 330ml bottle with metallic silver and blue label. Yellow straw color with small white head; big white globs throughout. Looks like metamucil and I’ve decided that it’s one of the ugliest beers I’ve ever seen. I had it resting in the fridge for three days and reserved the last 1/4 bottle and it was still nasty and globular. Minimal aroma is mostly lemon and grass with some corn or lagerishness. Tastes like wet paper with lemon juice. Mineral and musk (not musty, but musky, eww). Pretty dry to finish. This is not even close to good beer, no wonder it was only $1.99. And it’s not been sitting on the shelf for long in the store as it’s the first time I’d ever seen anything ’Sterkens’ at this store I frequent.

Sampled straight from the bottle. A nice but not great wit. The aroma was yeasty more than anything else with light citrus detectable. The flavor was of the standard wit wheat base with some orange and other citrus flavors coming through. The spicing was light, which was my main knock on the beer, and the overall flavor average strength (not too light, not strong, though). I’d go back to this one again (good stuff), but I wouldn’t pay import prices for it (no idea how much it costed). Re-rate, October 2006: Unchanged opinion.

Sterkens White Ale poured a slightly cloudy pale yellow body with a decent white head(no noticeable lacing). Floating in the body of the beer was sediment which never settled. The taste was citrusy and slightly sweet. Despite the floating sediment this was a very enjoyable beer. Great for the summer.

Light orange gold color. Medium white foamy head. Aroma is citrusy, yeasty, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied Belgian White. Malts are fruity and sweet. Apricots, pears, peaches and bright yeasts. Coriander and orange peels. Light and refreshing. Very decent beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Huge white head and a very pale coloring in the body. Aroma is fairly thin for the style. Has notes of ginger, corriander, flowers and some lemon drops. Taste is fairly sour with lemon rind and some sweet lemon drop candy (to be repetitive). Overall, just a little too tame and sweet for a wit for my tastes. However, this is a great summer beer.
