Rye is a cereal grain historically grown in our region. It has been cultivated since the time of the early settlers due to the scrappy and hearty ability to withstand harsh climates and poor growing conditions. Did you know George Washington grew rye and used it to ferment whiskey? We’re pretty sure that is a fact. You will notice the distinct notes of rye, a slightly spicy and grainy aroma not lost in the shuffle of hops and the four other malted grains we use in this fine seasonal addition to our 2X line.

Comes out of tap hazy, barely translucent honey-brown with a thin buff head. Aroma presents crisp malty, rye, and brandy-ish notes. Strong flavor has quite a brandy-like bite, with woody, rye, malty and hoppy tones in attendance. Texture has firm body and decent fizz. Get onto this tier rye now!

Nice overall brew. Not much stands out on it's own here, but the components work very well together. I always thought this was an IPA, but it's more of a "Not quite an IPA". Without the rye and added hops, I'd say it's a strong copper or lighter malted amber. Nice blend of caramel, citrus, and pine in the flavor. I'm still thinking IPA though as I finish this single sample.

Copper amber pour with a medium creamy head, nice lacing. Caramel, earthy floral hops, rye all in both nose and flavors. Nice and warming, More caramel and rye as it warms with a nice earthy hops bitter linger. Nice beer.

Light amber pour with a creamy white head. Aroma of spicy rye, malty sweetness and light floral, earthy hops. Taste is similar with lots of spicy rye, plenty of body and a pleasant bitter finish. Throw in the warmth of the higher ABV and this is a definite winner.

Excellent rye beer, and another 2x winner from Southern Tier. Sweet caramel, spicy rye coupled with an extremely floral hop bouquet. Soapy lacing above a half inch head, crystal clear golden~amber body. Bitter hop bite, dry finish, clean and snappy. A bit warming afterwards. Hoppy, fruity, spicy, malty all rolled together.
