Created by George Sleeman in the late 1800s, Sleeman Cream Ale was the first brand produced by the two Guelph breweries, and still remains our most recognized brand. Tasting Notes: Made from a variety of five imported hops, Sleeman Cream Ale's authentic North American style combines the easy drinking nature of a lager and the rich fruity character of an ale. Crafted from page 64 of the original Sleeman family recipe book, our Cream Ale has rich golden hue. You'll notice a slight fruity aroma, pear or apple, with this medium-bodied, very well-balanced ale.

The first time I tried this beer, it was the only beer in the house. It wasn't that great. The second time I tried this beer, it was because I was a summer student with the brewery. It still wasn't that great. The company's flagship brand and liked by many of my friends, just not my glass of brew. I have to admit, the clear bottle is a very nice touch. The beer pours a light yellow colour (so the bottle isn't hiding anything) with a minimal head. The aroma is thick and hoppy, maybe too hoppy. This beer has way too much carbonation and is harsh on the cheeks. The taste is a mishmash of varying degrees..slightly malty, slightly grassy, slightly awful.

Bottle / Draught. Colour – light hazy golden colour with copper edges, thin bubbly head, good lacing. Aroma – cereal malt, light fruit, corn, and weak floral hops. Mouthfeel – medium to full bodied, medium carbonation. Flavour – sweet corny malt notes, light yeast, and a icky finish. I remember when this beer came out in 1990, it was all the rage, now it sits on shelves for months.

A pale cream with a big fluffy head of foam that leaves great lacing. Cream and light biscuit and fruity sweet. The beer has a medium body and a malty sweet flavor with some cream soda notes. A solid light beer.

Pours a foamy white cap of head but doesn't produce much lacing. Has a golden appearance. Typical wheaty and grainy aromas, light malts and very mild citrus hops. Somewhat distinct corn aroma as well. Mild citrus hops, corn, grains. Slightly sweet in the finish, but nothing too excessive. Light floral hops and wheaty malts as well. Has a slightly oily and slick mouthfeel, average carbonation and is medium bodied. Not too bad Sleeman brew. Goes down real easy, refreshing. Perfect for summer parties.

Yet another beer left over from my wedding weekend for me to review, glad it’s a free one. Light copper body with a tall rocky cap, this was mostly due to the “I don’t give a shit about this beer pour”. Powerful stinky skunk aroma I can smell my glass from a distance away, way to bottle in a clear bottle Sleeman. Corn and rooting malts round out this garbage aroma and speaking of garbage I just smelt old used coffee grounds. Taste is marginally better then aroma, malty light taste with a slightly dark bitter finish. Metallic and corn flavours keep popping up along with some apple in the finish. Beer seems to heavily carbonated to me. Good beer to just slam back when your drunk nothing really to offensive here but unless I get it for free I’d never drink it. Oh gawd the smell just keeps getting worse.

Got an aromatic musty smell, taste is very light/clean and crisp. Its got a pretty good body which is one of the better points to this beer. Fine carbonation, some corn taste, slightly sweet, mild aromatic hops. I wouldnt say its bland but its a light flavor

Sorry but Sleeman makes a better porter than this cream ale. Sure, i pours with a cloudy golden body. Not much of a head, though. The slightest of a floral nose, but it absolutely no taste.

Not too bad of a beer. Poured a nice golden color with a weak head. Had a mild aroma with a touch of malt sweetness. Had a smooth and round flavor with the right amount of hops.

Another "just a bit different to appeal to the masses" beer.
Poured out a light gold beer with a small white rocky cap and minimal lacing. The aroma is quite light with corn, some grain and a touch of skunk (very little). Boring ass beer in the flavour department but it gets it done. Uninspiring corn and grainy malts and weak hops (a good thing in this beer). So-so smooth, finished soft with a very slight bitterness. Yawn. -

mmm well my first cream ale, i though it would be a little creamier. pours a golden like color with foamy head, a little lacy. i think this is dry hopped, i has that dryness to it. almost a cider. a little blan~

Godlen body, thin head, and not much lacing to brag about. Medium malty and hoppy aroma, with the alcohol a bit more noticeable than I prefer. These same qualities are reflected in the flavor. The carbonation is lively, yet a creamy texture remains on the tongue (nice contrast). Overall, I'd say this is a pretty decent beer, but I understand it's not a very good representation of the style.
