A dark brown to black color with a beige head. The aroma contains mostly chocolate and coffee. The flavor is more bitter than sweet with a lot of coffee showing up. Some oats and chocolate in there also. The finish is also slightly bitter. Overall a nice session stout.

This was ok, one of their better ones, but still seemed slightly below par for this style. Something off on the balance, slightly rusty flavor and feel. These bottles were only a week or two old, so I doubt the beer was sour. Finding the same balance pretty much on all their brews. Used to the more craft East and West coast breweries, but wanted to try something new from the Midwest.

..and it pinkens your teeth as you chew... . Pours a deep shadow brown, like when you brown-out.. . . Medium head on the pour, light adhesive lacing .. . light sweet roast, 7min burnt oatmeal, and decaf .. . I am enjoying this beer, its simple but has all its ducks in a row, ..it's tasty and quite sessionable- 8:26pm, 8/8/11 .. . Becky, I think I speak for all of us when I say, "When's the ice cream going to get here?"

My first beer from Schlafly. Toasted grainy, oat and mild coffee aroma. The beer pours a deep brown color, looks black sitting in the glass, with a big fluffy tan head. Great head retention and thick notches of lace after each sip. The flavors are light; slightly roasty with soft oatmeal, cream, and some underlying chocolate. Despite being a bit mild and light there's enough going on and it's clearly well put together. Very drinkable. Good beer.

Poured a very dark brown with a nice large tan head. Great lacing throughout this oatmeal stout. Mouthfeel is a complex, malty, creamy with a slight hoppy bitterness. Very good beer that I will enjoy again. Another solid product from Schlafly.

Sampled from bottle. Pours opaque black-brown with a creamy tan head. Bold roasted malt aroma with dark fruit notes. Slightly sweet up front, but the dark malts make it a little bitter in the finish. Coffee-cocoa flavors present from the roasted malts. Fruit esters subdued. Smooth. A fine oatmeal stout.

Pours black with thick, lasting head. The aroma is toasty & toasty & balanced by a hint of toffee sweetness. Flavor is rich and dry, but not too dry. Full bodied yet drinkable with velvety mouthfeel and light carbonation. Great showing by Schlafly.

Dark, dark brown with a light tan head. Bitter, well roasted flavors but the nose is so light as to be almost imperceptible. Smooth mouthfeel, medium-to-full bodied and oily. The darkness of the beer and the roasted flavors don't hide the lack of desired balance and complexity. MUSIC: 'The Dark Don't Hide It' by Magnolia Electric Co.

This was a decent stout. Nice and dark oily appearance on the pour. Creamy medium head. Lots of coffee and oats in the aroma. Decent balance in the flavor which was more smoke, hop bitterness and nuts. Good mouthfeel and a great finish.

Black color with some offwhite head. Aroma is coffee, dark chocolate, smoked malt, roasted malt, and just smoke. Flavor included oats, black coffee, smoke, bittersweet chocolate, and smoked malts. The palate is thin and bitter.
