The first thing one notices in a Samuel Adams® Winter Lager is its color: the deep brown of winter. Then comes the magical aroma which promises something special on the tongue. The warm aroma of cinnamon and ginger which blends with the roasty sweetness of the malted barley and hint of citrus from the orange peel. And after that first sip the promise is fulfilled. On the palate Samuel Adams® Winter Lager is rich and full bodied, robust and warming, a wonderful way to enjoy the cold evenings that come with this season.

Draught: Poured a copper to brown amber with a tan color head. The aroma was sweet malts and nuts. The taste was sweet caramel malts and wheat.

Clear copper color with tan head. The aroma is really light with a hint of grapes and maybe wheat. The taste starts off with wheat the a hint of spice. About midway the caramel grows in strength and sweetness to about the finish. A few sips in and a cherry to grape flavor builds.

35,5cl bottle from Systembolaget, Strömstad. Pours clear dark amber with an off-white head. Farily malty aroma with some lightly spicy and roasty notes. Medium sweet with mild spicy flavours, and a light bitterness. A bit to much on the sweet side for my taste, nothing special going on either. Quite okay, but not a preferred winter beer for me.

Good initial aroma, something identifiable and present. This lager pours like a darker beer in the steeler stein., but not quite as dark as a stout. Has an initial bitterness that fades rapidly. The first taste is a little surprising for a lager; its initial taste is much like some kinda ale. It does not necessarily have the bitterness of an alcohol impact, does have good carbonation, when poured and when tasted. Would not recognize this as a weizenbock without looking at the style on this website. Finish is OK. You can make a living out of rating the many varieties of Sammy. Not quite as good as aventis of moonglow.

Febr. 2013: 355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.5%. Chestnut-coloured beer, moderate off-white head. The aroma has some caramel, dust and grass. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavour has plenty of caramel but is not too sweet, also notes of brown bread, the spice addition (cinnamon, ginger, orange peel) is fairly moderate and quite mild. The bitterness is low. Certainly drinkable, but not really great.

Another fine brew by Samuel Adams. Pours out a clear brown color with a slight head. The aroma is of burnt orange peel. The mouthfeel is above average. The taste is of full flavor Wheat & malt.

pours a copper amberish color with a nice foamy/fluffy light brown head that stays around for a while, fading into a thick everlasting film. The aroma is that of bread and grain on the front of the nose. Light backing of orange citrus and an herbal hop note. The taste is that of bitter orange peel comes through on the palate and cinnamon becomes noticeable as well. The mouth feel is full bodied with a thick texture and lively carbonation.
