Brewed especially for the season, this bright citrusy unfiltered lager is both satisfying and refreshing. It’s the perfect transition from winter’s heavier brews to the lighter beers of summer. Borne of our brewers’ many trips to Germany, Alpine Spring features a unique blend of lager attributes: the balanced maltiness and hoppiness of a Helles, the smoothness and slightly higher alcohol of a traditional spring bock, and the unfiltered appearance of a Kellerbier. The beer is brewed with Tettnang Noble hops to add a unique, bright orange-citrusy aroma and flavor. Flavor: Crisp and slightly sweet with bright citrus and spicy hop notes Color: Hazy Golden / 9 SRM Original Gravity: 14.2 Plato Alcohol by Vol/Wt: 5.5%ABV – 4.3%ABW Calories/12 oz.: 186 IBUs: 19 Malt Varieties: Two-row Harrington, Metcalfe, and Copeland pale malts, Honey malt Hop Varieties: Tettnang Tettnanger Noble hops Yeast Strain: Samuel Adams lager yeast Availability: Seasonal (January – March) in six-packs, 12-packs and on draft. Good malt and citrusy hops in the nose, average light amber body topped with a decent white head with minimal lacing. Mouth is medium, a bit creamy. Lots of sweetness in this brew, good amount of citrus bitter kick, finish is not dry, honey flavor almost dominates. A good sweet and slightly spicy brew. RERATE 9/18/2013 Beautiful lace

Bought a 6 er at the grocery store. Nice bubbly yellow amber pour. Nice! Had to pour direct into the glass to get a 1" head, with some nice lacing that follows down the glass. The Tettang jumps out in the nose. Malty refreshing brew. This seems to have a little bitter aftertaste, not overpowering, but drinkable. OK beer!

Bottle - puts a cloudy gold lager in the glass with a puffy lasting cap. Aroma is bready, a bit of of floral some grass. This lager is just full of flavor - malty, a bit of citrus, woody, earthy - clean finish dries up and leaves a small kiss of honey at the finish. Love the style and thi is a great rendition of a Zwickel.

Pours a slightly hazy golden straw colour, finger of fine bubbled head with some retention and nice sporadic lacing. The aroma is a light lemon citrus notes, bready malts, hints of caramel and honey, and some musty grass notes. The taste is much like the aroma with the faint floral citrus hops coming through alongside a heavily breaded malt, with a touch of musty grass notes on the finish.

Labelled as Samuel Adams Spring Lager
The Beerbistro (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)

The beer poured a hazy yellow colour with a 1" white creamy had that lasted and laced down the Samuel Adams Boston Lager glass. The aroma grainy malt, and floral hops. Quite pedestrian really. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with mild carbonation. The flavour was grass, grains, some yeast, and a weak bitter finish. -

Seems to be called "Spring Lager" for the Canadian and Swedish markets. Picked-up a 6-pack of this at the LCBO. An unfiltered lager... pretty nice ! Pours a hazy golden-amber colour with a big frothy white head that has good retention and decent lacing all-around. The hop really comes out in the nose for a lager, with hints of honey and grain. The taste is mild with malt and the citrus just adds a refreshing twist on this very interesting lager (which will not appeal to most typical lager drinkers).

Hazy golden yellow hue sits below the off-white foam that disipates quickly. Fragrant armoas of hops and citrus dance around the nostrils. Fruity flavors of barley, wheat, lemon zest and orange blend nicely as part of the hop balance with just a slight tinge of bite at the finish. Not my favorite as it still may be a wee tad hoppy for my palate, but I would not turn down this seasonal either. Especially on a hot day. Well done Sam Adams!

My first kellerbier so I didnt know what to expect. It reminds me of Leines summer shandy with a little less lemon and a little more hops. Definite lager/beech backflavor and belch. Otherwise, meh.

I should of poured this one in a glass,i shall do that on the next round.Had a lot of different flavors, i think its the tettnanger hops that strike me the most. Not really the biggest fan of that hop.It was a decent beer, but they have others that are better.

I was a little disappointed to see Noble Pils replaced as the spring seasonal (although I now know it is coming back full-time). However, this is a great replacement. Mild citrus pairs well with the light malt sweetness although it seems more fitting of a summer beer.
