Young Rodenbach is mixed with Rodenbach which has matured for at least two years in oaken casks. Scintillating dark, richly smelling beer.

Pours clear cherrywood with a thick buff head. Aroma delivers tart and sour dark fruit and stone fruit with a little fruity sweetness. Flavor presents tart, sour and sweet dark fruit, primarily cherry with some plum, as well as tart stone fruit and a touch of berry. No malt or hops, but who cares? Texture provides firm, smooth body and lively, lasting fizz as well as a nice tart fruit finish. Long live Belgium!

I found this one with a best by date of 09-21-13(over a year out of date) .Pours a cloudy light oil color, low carbonation.Mild cask aroma, sweet and sour taste. Overall it was ok. Decent for the style.

I picked this beer up from the Wine Gourmet in Roanoke, VA. This beer gets straight 8's! I thought this was a really nice Flanders Red. The flavor tracks the aroma to a tee - smells of cherry, musk, and wet wood. A very nice beer.

SAQ private import. Best before 19.04.14 on rear label. Pours a dark amber colour with a beige head, decent retention but not much lacing. Cider malt vinegar aromas with cherries and notes of coffee and light caramel. The flavour is kind of a letdown though. Watery overall with the mild sourness, sweetness and then, yeast lingering. It does start getting a little stronger with time. Hints of wood in the aftertaste. Much preferred their Alexander beer. Too bad they discontinued that one.

This particular beer came in a 8 pak with 4 different varieties from Palm. Poured a interesting reddish brown copper. Thin head had to force the head by doing a hard sratght in pour. Nice plum, chocolate. nose. Capivating! However the mouthfeel is watery and disapointing. Not much flavor except a total sour wash to force down- I'm not a fan of sour beer. I doubt that I will drink the offering in the box.

Dark red color, brownish. Solid light brown foam head lacing to glass. Aroma is fruity yet not too sweet. Taste is fruity with some wood tones, even slightly bitter after taste. (Den Haag 201112)

From bottle @Bearden Beer Market: browny red pour, slight but tight off white head, some lacing. Warmed sweet vinegar aroma, oaken woods, sour, funk, goodness in a bottle. Taste is nicely sour and tart then smooth as silk, oak, very slight vinegar, nicely sweet on the end and tart to leave a great linger. Can't believe I've waited this long to try this beautiful beer. This will cross my lips again very soon...

5.2% ABV (Best before 8/22/12)- It is confirmed, I am not the biggest fan of Flemish/Sours. Decent quality Belgian here, so if you like this style should be good. Good balance of sweet and tart, with some oakiness from the casks. Probably leaning more on the tart side, some cherries and other fruits in there. May be better with some age, but wanted to try it now. Not something I would get again though, rather use the $$ towards a dubbel or trip.

Malt vinegar and wooden aroma. I smell cherries too. Looks like the malt vinegar I use on my fish at Long John Silvers. Right now I am thankful that this is a small bottle. Taste is so much better than I expected. There's lots of sweet and sour cherries. Taste is familiar but intriguing. Finish is subdued. WOody, tart and sweet. Wow! So much better than I expected. I admit it. I was all wrong. I'll have a bigger bottle please!

One of the better sours I've tried, and therefore it is definitely a classic. A dark ruby red pour, slightly clear, pinkish head. Tart cherries and vinegar predoiminate. The flavour was similar.
