I sampled this in a plastic cup...That certainly makes it hard to evaluate in color AND aroma...I would say it has the aroma of plastic. :o( But I DO love hops, and this one delivers. It is a bit mild mannered for an IPA, but worth trying again when i can get a glass full.

Poured cloudy brownish yellow, next to no head and light lacing. Aroma was of citrusy hops. This one is pure hopwater...citrusy flavors and very little malt. Not overly bitter, a tad weak. Nothing "wrong" with it...just a run of the mill, slightly below average IPA. Dull.

Part of an $8.50 mixed sixer purchased at Whole Foods in Charlottesville. After a vigorous pour, a scant 1/8 inch white head forms over a clear, orange-gold liquid. The foam is persistent and leaves good lace. Both the smell and the flavor of this beer are, as the name would suggest, quite bitter. But there's something wrong here. This is astringent and unpleasant. The aftertaste is as if you held an asprin in your mouth for too long. I like Ballard, Washington, and I like bitter beer, but I do not like Ballard Bitter. Pass on this one.

One of my favorite beers. The hops are tremendous and the craftsmanship shows itself. Pours nicely brown into a glass, best served cold. I usually pour it so that is has limited head. The flavors are packed with good pacific northwest hops. I toured the brewery, it is incredible.

Had this at a real garbage of shithole in Rice village with omar,tamsin,+stacey...looks good, aroma?..good solid bitterness thats not crazy, like the whore bartener that got me kicked out for not leaving a tip on my first beer..?...what a skank!...but the beer was good and crisp.

Clear light amber with a good, lasting head. The aroma is leafy hops. The flavor is crisp, not quite dry and a medium bitterness (actually light bitterness for an IPA. Tingly, refreshing, actually not a bad drinking beer.

Okay, this is the first I've had of Redhook's IPA. Several years ago I enjoyed Ballard Bitters when I lived in Seattle. I didn't read the bottle very closely and an IPA sounded good and I didn't have much money on me (usually a prescription for Redhook) so I grabbed a sixer of these IPAs. It took two swallows to figure out why I wasn't tasting an IPA. The taste was familiar but *not* an IPA. This is a *bitter,* folks, don't be misled by the lable. That said, I've rated it as an IPA as it now aspires... Pours with virtually no head and what head there is quickly disipates. My second one I poured more aggressively with similar results. After 30 seconds it looks like a darker macro. Smell is okay but nothing really stands out. Taste...eh. Hops are the primary flavor but not to the extent promised by the lable. Hints of floral are there but it has a bitter aftertaste that's different from a real IPA < ahem >. Mouthfeel isn't anything special. Plenty of carbonation but that's about it. I could (and will) drink the rest of the six-pack, but not all at one sitting. A couple of these and I'm going to want something else.

Boring. Where are the hops??? It smelled alright I suppose, sometimes you can be fooled by aroma. And then the appearance was nice enough, but the flavor was very much lacking in hops. For an IPA, it was terrible. Okay for a different style. Rename it.

Bottled. Golden colour and nice white head. Vegetables in aroma. Hoppy fruity flavour with vegetably notes. Pretty "light" IPA, but refreshing at the same time.

The beer that brings my humble ass to Idol status (until Flashpro rescales it, anyway). Very resinous hop aroma and with a slighly, but weak, hoppy juicy mouthfeel. A solid IPA from the a featured brewery featured in American Beer which I watched tonight (and it was pretty awesome). I would not turn this beer down at all, a worthy AIPA.
