Twice Checked Chocolate Cherry Porter appears black walnut with a deep cherry halo. Immediate notes of chocolate truffles radiate from the medium, tan head followed quickly by aromas of dark cherries and earthy coffee. This medium-bodied brew provides flavours of dark chocolate, black forest cake and a subtle cherry background that provides a brightness to the palate.

Looks like cola pouring from the can with a big creamy-frothy beige cap that goes down very slowly and leaves a little creamy-spotted lacing. Lots of chocolate and cocoa powder in the nose, over the roasted malts. Hints of spices, nuts, vanilla and earthiness. There is a slight cherry sour kick at first in the flavours, but the chocolate and roasted malt are mostly taking over. Not too sweet. Definitely roasty. Light cherry notes blended in all of this pretty good porter. Until next year !

Only 6 days old, the freshest beer I’ve had from the LCBO in forever! The beer pours a coca-cola brown with a fluffy light brown cap which quickly devolves to a rocky film. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, cherries and anise. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, creamy, and average carbonation. The flavour is not very b itter for a porter with the sweetness of the cherries cutting through the bitterness of the roasted malt and coffee flavours. This is the best Railway City beer I’ve tried in years.
