Square Nail Pale Ale, a west coast style pale ale that finishes off with a gentle bitterness. At 5.6% alcohol it is a full flavoured ale brewed with Saskatchewan malted barley and Crystal malts along with several large additions of Cascade hops to give the beer an assertive bitterness and Aroma. It is named after the hundreds and hundreds of square nails that we found during the first phase of the building renovation. No doubt these nails were hand crafted by many of the local blacksmiths in Peterborough in the mid-1800's.

Pours a large frothy off white head and has a amber copper app. Thick patchy lacing. Aromas of roasted and toasty malts. Earthy hops as well. Flavours are mainly toasty and nutty malts, fairly sweet. More earthy hops and some strong bitter citrus hops. Smooth and somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Pretty good stuff.

Single can from the LCBO. Pours a clear amber colour with fluffy-creamy warm cap that stays quite long and leaves very good amounts of soapy thick lacing. Aromas of butterscotch with mild hops, rusty water notes and some bread. The hop give a nice sharp edge of bitterness at first in the taste, with the caramel lingering in the finish. Seems like the grass comes back after that. A beautiful-looking, well-blended Pale Ale with some decent bite.

Shared a few beers with cyrenaica one night and this was the beer of the day. It poured a clear red colour with a generous light tan head. Aroma was hoppy with citrus and pine and grainy malt filling in the nose. A well balanced APA with the caramel malt balanced out by the citrusy hops.

The beer poured a translucent golden red with a 2" generous off-white head that lasted. The aroma was caramel malt, grassy malt, and citrusy hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was nicely balanced between the malty sweetness, and the citrusy hop bitterness. Definitely enjoyable.
