Essential Pale Ale is a deep golden color with hop aroma reminiscent of fresh fruit. The pleasing bitter taste from American hops is balanced with English and German malts, and offers a complex full flavored character that is smooth and refreshing.

Clear gold, a little coppery, with a thin but persistent and rocky cap. It's a very tropical aroma: mango and grapefruit, even pineapple, like a boat drink. In the flavor, the bitterness is surprisingly kind, with strong sweet malt support. I'm glad extremism as a desperate bid for attention seems to be on the decline. Great body and carbonation.

A non-offensive, true-to-type beer that is pretty basic. Light golden color with a faint head and very little lacing. Mildly aromatic with piney resin and a litle citrus. Light malt back. Smooth.

Third of four Port City brews from FoamDome. Nearly clear light gold pour with a thinning head and a few spots of lacing. Light aromas of earthy pine hops, sweet malts, some citrus and grapefruits, touch of honey. Taste is also on the lighter side, clean, with lightly sweet malts that are offset by a decent hops presence and a kiss of honey. Easy to drink APA. Thanks again Dave for another good brew.

New brewery, tasting. Pours a slight copper, low thin head. I guess I've gotten too accustomed to over the top IPA's that when I run into a straight pale ale it..."pales" by comparison. Needless to say this is a new brewery and this had a decent balance, just a bit tame for me. Hope they step out a little more on the edge with their upcoming "seasonal" offerings starting in the fall. Anyways, this was good!
