a good pale...fresh, aromatic and bitter...nothing spectacular, but it does everything a classic pale ale should. i'd enjoy a pint any day. maybe a little hoppier than average?

Sampled on 12/8/08 at the brewery. This American Pale Ale poured a medium amber color from the tap. Medium sized white foamy head, with nice retention. The aroma is caramel and sweet, with lots of floral and piney hops. A medium bodied Pale Ale. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are floral and piney. Nice carbonation. Very fresh tasting, the hop flavors are very clean and crisp. A fairly hoppy Pale Ale, yet it has a nice malt character. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is bitter.

I actually had a version of this called Ron's Pale Ale, brewed in memory of Ron Fries. The only difference is the version I had was made with cascade hops only. It pours with a deep golden body topped by a thick, white head with a good amount of lacing. The aroma is sweet, hoppy and grapefruity, but without much else. The flavor is sweet and hoppy with a slight grapefruit note and a very lite hint of pine. The finish is bitter and hoppy. Light to medium bodied and slightly dry.
