08.30.05 12oz bottle. Hazed copper-amber pour with small but lasting, sticky white head. Massive c-hop aroma is full of grapefruit pith, pine, and stone fruits. Juicy. Mouthwatering. Flavors start out with some biscuit and shortbread notes and quickly turn to smashing hops. Thin but sticky palate is resinous and full of grapefruit pith. Very bitter, but also very fruity. It’s got great balance and is not at all cat pissy. Nice, thanks Mike.

Citrusy nose pouring out of this one. A medium bodied brew with a creamy mouthfeel. Hoppy bitterness as expected with a pretty good malt balance.

~ Initial Review (Draught), 09-20-2003:
Sampled this at the 9th Annual Festival of Beer in Downtown San Diego, hanging with my BA buds xlperro and seagoat.
Now this is what I'm talking about.... I'm a huge fan of Stone Ruination, but have to admit that something this nice has to come close to a photo-finish with Stone's finest. Excellent aroma, that highlights both the malt and the hops quite nicely.
Very full and pleasant mouthfeel to this one, with the flavor profile showing off all it's wares in fine form. Alcohol detectable, but definately not the rocket-fuel you would expect in a 8.1%ABV brew. Great hoppy finish, with a very nice overall drinkability. In my mind, the best of the ten samples I had at the fest.
I really need to go to Pizza Port more often for beers like this!
~ Re-Review (Bottle), 06-13-2004:
Somebody must have sold their soul (or their firstborn) to grant the wishes of many a'beergeek with this one -- that is to say, Pizza Port finally going through the work of getting this bottled and sold in 4-packs. There wasn't too many hardcore BA and RateBeer beergeeks that weren't buying up at least two or three 4-packs of this at the recent 7th Annual San Diego Real Ale Festival at Pizza Port Carlsbad.
And for good reason -- this is one damn tasty Double IPA..., off the tap or from the bottle. I'm having a hard time comapring-n'-contrasting the two serving methods, but I think it will be interesting to stash one or two of these stubbie 12-ozer's away for a while, for cellaring's sake. The rest of the half-case that I split with Steve? Some for trading and gift-giving, but most right into my `fridge they go... :) Highly recomended.

Medium orange color. Aroma is floral hops. A big bodied double IPA. Malts are slightly malty and a little sweet. Hops are juicy, very floral and grapefriuty. Bitter without being over the top. Very flavorful, very hoppy, yet it’s still a well balanced beer. Hides the 9.5% alcohol well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is bitter.

hazy orange colour, nice foamy head and a correct lacing, strong hoppy nose: apricot, flowers and cream, full-bodied, low carbonation, very strong bitterness, long bitter flowery finish - strong charatcer and a nice balance for this wonderful IPA

On draft, Pizza Port San Clemente. Beautiful orange/brown with a tight, creamy, head. What really impressed me was the creaminess of this hop-monster! Lots of hop flavor & aroma, but a terrific mouthfeel that was smooth & creamy.

12 oz bottle. Golden, cloudy, with a nice white head. Fresh hops. Hoppy artoma. Sweet flavor. Nice bitterness. Good beer. Enjoyable.

A good amount of citrus flavor in this one. I had it on the cask. Nice head. A light color. This is a wonderfully blended brew.

I gotta say, I love this stuff. Cask, draft or growler, whatever it’s frigging awesome. Fresh bud in a glass. I’ve never had a bad one.

This is one bad ass IIPA. A floral, lemony, piney aroma. The flavor is really bitter but smooth all the same. Some oranges, apricots, and caramel in the flavor. Very creamy and well balanced.
