Packaged on 11/12/2015. Poured into a tulip glass. Opaque dark brown/black color with a small tan head that forms a ring on the top of the glass. Aromas of coffee, carob, roasted malt and hint of vanilla. Coffee dominates the flavor with malted milk balls, roasted malt and vanilla joining the flavor parade. Long lasting coffee and milk sugar aftertaste. Silky mouthfeel. A very tasty milk stout from a rising Chicago brewer. http://www.chicagotribune.com/dining/ct-dining-0709-pipeworks-brewing-expands-20150704-story.html

Batch #17. Dark black pour with a mahogany head that dissipates and caps the beer. Aromas are dominated by coffee, very pleasant and inviting but rather one dimensional. A thin mouthfeel is also sort of a downer, but it has nice carbonation and drinks very easily. The flavors of this one shine, however. Roasted barley, coupled with a hint of harshness (tannins?) give way to the pleasant cacao and vanilla and are blended with the aforementiond coffee. This is a nice beer from a small batch producer - would gladly sample again.
