Pale Ales have long been a favourite at Pint Pursuits. There is no shortage of the style in Ontario, but we came to find that many of the offerings leaned towards being malt-focused, with just enough hops to apply the name to it. Enter Lord of Lupulin. In designing this beer, we wanted to showcase the aroma and flavour attributes of the Azacca and Mandarina Bavaria hops, while keeping the bitterness in check. To do so, we added loads of hops very late in the brewing process, in order to preserve their tropical and citrusy qualities. The result? An aromatic, juicy, hazy Pale Ale brewed for hop lovers. Malts: Pale Ale, Golden Promise, Crystal, Carafoam, Wheat Hops: Mandarina Bavaria, Azacca, Centennial Yeast: Vermont Ale

The beer pours a hazed golden red with a generous white head that lingers a while and plenty of effervescence in the glass. The aroma is grapefruit, pine, light caramel, and yeast. The aroma is quite boring to be honest. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with slightly above average carbonation. The flavour is decently hop forward with the citrusy hops in front, the malt is more biscuity in the flavour. There is a dishsoap note in the finish which takes away from the hops. -

473ml tallboy from LCBO. Pours a fairly large frothy eggshell coloured head and has a pale golden appearance. Lots of thick sticky dirty lacing. Aromas of barley malts, mild herbal hops and faint floral notes. Flavours of barley, grains, subtle floral hops, a bit grassy as well. Average carbonation. Medium body. Not bad

Slightly unfiltered, golden-orange colour with a frothy warm cap, good retention and loads of lacing. Beautiful aromas of fresh hops with citrus (oranges mostly) and grassy notes right out of the can. Then, after breathing a bit, the grain shows and hops take a chill. The taste is bitter with citrus zest with a nice dry finish. A pretty good Pale Ale and a great start for this brewery.
