This is a decent beer, but as a marzen, its pretty much middle of the road. There are much better domestic examples out there, beers like Degroen's Marzen, Penn Oktoberfest, and Sprecher Oktoberfest come to mind, as well as several others. But again, like Sam Adams, Pete's Oktoberfest is widely available, and its good for beer lovers who can't get really great domestic examples of marzen. This beer is actually brewed with some Munich malt, a nice touch, but without decoction, it still falls short of the mark. This beer pours to a deep amber to chestnut color with a nice white head, and good carbonation. The nose is sweet malty, and a touch nutty. The palate delivers more sweet maltiness, some chocolate malt character, and some nutty malt flavor. This beer finishes malty, with a touch of hops, but ends a bit cloying. I like this beer. It isn't the best example out there, but it isn't the worst either. It is easy to find, and the price is right. I would match this beer with hearty fare, roasted turkey or roasted pork would work very well. Pete might not be as wicked as he use to be, but this beer lover still has a soft spot in his heart for his beers.

Definately my favorite of the Pete's Wicked brews. Great flavor with an even better aftertaste. I have had better octoberfest beers but this one is high up on my list. Just as good if not better than the major imports and it will save you a couple of bucks as well, thank you Pete!

A nice looking amber colored brew with a creamy head to it. The aroma wasn't bad, even though there was a slightly sour smell. The taste matched the sour aroma-only a bit more intense.

Anyway this is quite a nice looking Marzen..dark amber with a smallish off white head..nice carbonation..head goes fast but leaves attractive lace. Smell is rather odd though..a creamy milky aroma..with some nice malt in the background...strange but not offensive. Not too bad a taste for Pete's..nice malts..at first not toosweet and a small hop bitterness at the end. pretty average on the palate. quite drinkable..not bad really

In terms of Oktoberfest beers, garbage. Pours a deep amber, with a very small head the completely disappears. Aroma is faint, but a bit sweet and hoppy. Smooth mouthfeel accompanies the crappy taste. Starts sweet, then turns to crap. Has a strange metallic almost chemical aftertaste. By far, the worst marzen I've ever had.

This deep amber colored beer had little head or lace. the aroma was slightly bitter and hoppy. the flavor was slightly sweet and well balanced.

This is the best petes Ive had. I love the strawberry blonde, but this one out does it by far. It goes down smooth and has a great taste.

Average for an oktoberfest but great drinking beer. Not much head, good amount of carbonation, and good overall flavor. Couldn't beat $3.00 for a sixer.

Rated October 2001: One of thier better efforts. Good nose, malty and decent hop bitter-sweet flavor. I like this beer, not a Spaten or Paulaner but good non the less.
