This beer pours a golden color with a white head the fades leaving a lacy ring around the glass. The beer is very lightly hazy. The beer has a very faint malty sweet smell with a very faint herbal/spicy hop aroma. Initially, you can taste the sweetness of the malt but this is then balanced by the low to moderate hop bitterness with a moderate carbonation. It's lighter body and good balance of flavor makes is a very good beer. This was also part of a sampler pack.

A deeper orange-yellow colored beer. A small creamy white head. Not much hang time. And a splotchy lacing is left behind. Faint sweet grain and grassy hops in the nose. Medium bodied, decently carbonated body. Crisp on the tongue. The malt and grassy-citric hops are well balanced in the tasting. In fact this is a good session beer.

Good authentic German Helles, it delivers as a well made lager. Crisp, grassy aroma that is lightly sweetened and backed by fresh noble hops. Clear golden, straw yellow pour with a fluffy, bright white head and thick lacing. Mouth feel is airy and crisp. Very fresh with a nice hop bitterness. Grainy, pale malt, light bodied. Peppery-grassy hops, fairly prominent in the flavor. Great summer quencher, an everyday lager.

Brought to me by Max's of Baltimore, this was a nice, classic, refreshing beer. There was nothing fancy about it. Big taste with a generous head on it.

I've only had this brew once, but I would get it again in a heart beat. Pale gold in color with a good size head for this style of beer. Nice malt flavor with a clean finish. Very refreshing.

This beer poured a a very pale golden color topped off by a fizzy white head that left no lace down the sides of the glass. The aroma was malty with some very tamed but spicy hops showing through as well. The mouthfeel was light bodied and pretty refreshing. The flavor was light, malty and smooth with some corn and slight hoppy flavors coming through in the finish. Really just a sub par lager and nothing more.

*Head:Poured a average head, not long lasting. *Appearance:A little lighter than medium gold. *Aroma:Very light malt and Just detectable hops. *Mouthfeel:Felt smooth and carbonated just right. *Taste: Lightly sweet malt, light enjoyable hops and finnishes with light sweet malt balanced with same amount light taste and bitter hops. ***Very easy drinking and flavor last a little while (2.5 to 3 Minutes)before tapering off. Leaves me wanting another. All ingrediants balanced well in this easy drinking brew.****I recomend this for a transition beer from Macro to Craft Beer.

I gotta say what I really feel here - and I admit, I could be missing something. This brew was created in answer to the mass produced market. I don't notice any difference between this and the mass produced except perhaps for a slightly fresher flavor - and this is a brewery which produces some top notch stuff (hence my disappointment). On the other hand, I can say that I was not as impressed by a couple of the seasonal brews from this fine institution as some other people, so I can say that perhaps I just don't get it.

I have to admit, for what I might describe as being a piss water beer, Penn Gold is pretty damn good. And I am not just saying that because it's a product of the Penn Brewery. My motto is, If I can see thru it, I won't drink it!. Well, I can see thru this one, and I WILL drink it!!! The body is, like the name says, golden and clear, with a hearty head, and a malty aroma. This beer tastes very very clean, smooth, creamy (not grainy, like most beers of it's style) and refreshing, but by the same token, has virbato! A strong mouthfeel of solid malt and hop balance is very noticeable. Very flavorful. And the aftertaste is very pleasant, not dry. Definitely a good brew to have with pizza. This is far from being piss water! The Penn Brewery got it right. Why can't the big boys of the brewing industry?
