Cynics can't believe it, Epicures hail it a sensation, and Pythagoreans just can't add up what makes this luscious blend of rich malty ale and cherry lambic so delightful. It might be the flavor of dark chocolate and cherry cordials; it could be the way it acquires wisdom and grace in the cellar. Maybe it's a conundrum. What's your theory? The essence of wonder is a unique and masterful blend of strong malty ale and authentic Belgian Kriek. Our philosophers deduce that this powerful marriage of cherries, roasted malts, and dark chocolate will only achieve more wisdom and coherence as it broods in the dark recesses of your cellar.

This is a beer with a big flavor. The pour is dark brownish-red, with a tan head. Aroma is caramel malt, cherry, and spices. The flavour is sweet malt with nuuty, fruit and what seems like a toffee flavor.

12 oz. bottle - Stumbled into this one at a local homebrew shop where they had a few in a fridge (set at 50ish temp). First taste you have is of belgian ale, which is what Ommegang is known for. The label indicates its mixed with cherry lambic. There is some flavor of cherry lambic, but not what you’d expect if it was a full on lambic with no ale added to it. The lambic nose can be found in the glass. Very fine head that mainatins a bit even after starting to drink it. Cloudy beer. It had been i my fridge for a couple of weeks so it shouldn’t have been much in the way of shaking it up and there was a fair amount of yeast still in the bottle. Nice ruby color. Alcoholly aftertaste on the pallate as would be expected of this beer, which lingers with a light raisin-apple flavor. I can see how someone might consider this their "dream beer." I like Belgians and every once in awhile (due to cost) I enjoy a lambic. Mixing the two together is pretty cool, especially since it was though of by a homebrewer!! BTW: The label says Ommegang is a member of the Duval family of beers. Hadn’t heard that before.

12 oz bottle. Clear amber color (if you ignore the sediment that will eventually settle). Lasting head with large bubbles. High carbonation. I let the beer’s temperature rise well above refrigeration levels. Full complex aroma: notes of sugar beets (or maybe that’s the cherries), fruity yeast, sugar cane maybe and some sweet malt. Sweet malty flavor, cherry fruitiness and a sweet vegetable flavor too. Some bitterness rises up midway in an attempt to be distinguished from the medley of flavors. I can’t discern all the flavors going on here. Nice drinkable beer.

Thanks to Ron, on tap at Vintage Estates. Smells fruity almost like specialty liquor or whiskey. Cloudy brown appearance and has a creamy thin lightish blanket for a head. The taste is wet woodlike and strong. However, you would not think of it as high alky. This is much more mild and well behaved for 10 percent. Lower carbonation. Has a winish initial impression that leads to rotten fruity. Smooth without allot of offensiveness. Medium to thin lacing. If this wasn’t so intoxicating, I would almost say it was watered down. Very deceiving, cannot taste the alky after a few sips, must numb the taste buds. Cannot detect the lambic within. Somewhat creamy at times. Interesting, dizzying and complex. More manners than Weyer’s.

Small tan/light brown head, short lived. Hazy brown/amber color. Some sticky lacing. Complex nose of malt, honey, fruit and some mustiness. Med/full body, creamy texture.Fruity notes of plum, raisins, chocolate, licorice and hints of vanilla combine to create a very complex brew. Medium dry finish of fruit and a hint of smoke to boot. Ver nice.

2016 edition. Pours an amber colour with a ruby hue. Big fluffy beige head, long lasting with some thick foam lacing. Nutty aromas with some dark fruits (figs, dates) and some caramel malts. The taste has the dark fruits with some nice hops that gives out hints of mint, grass. A little wood in the mouthfeel. Quite a nice Quad that has lots happening.

Pours and cloudy brownish red color with a nice white heat that disappears quickly. Smells like wheat, malt and cherry. The taste and mouthfeel are complex like a Dunkel. Very interesting and will buy again. Does have just a bit of tang aftertaste but not bitter.

Another top shelf elixer from USA Ommegang. Excellent pour with rich ,tight, icecream like tan brown head. A little alcohol note at first followed by chocolate , etherial cherry, fruits. A little funk not a lot, reminds me of Orval but not Orval. Good- good stuff!

Burgundy coloured pour. One finger tan head quickly shrinks to a ring and leaves little lacing. Don’t get much aroma. Sweet start, dark fruits, banana and sour finish. Very carbonated with a medium body. Think this beer is somewhat overrated.
