Dark brown with a moderate tan head and durable lacing. Aroma-chocolate, tobacco, mild smoke and spice. Medium bodied, coffee, dark malt and a roasty touch of BBQ in the flavor, very smooth, good stuff. I didn't find it to be all that heavily smoked but it's in there and very well balanced in that regard.

A dark molasses colored beer with a thick brown head, goes away pretty quick though. The aroma is not overpowering at all, thought maybe it would be too over the top with smoke but was more a mild smoke, rich malt and licorice. Flavor was a good shot of smoke and burnt molasses, anise and leather. The body is a bit lighter than you would expect from the way it poured but I wouldn't call it watery by any means. Worth picking up if you can find it.

So, traveled to a few places around KC to find this, finally found a few sixers at a World Market after a tip from a tatt'ed up waitress at Grinders .. . Pours a sexy black, light foam, good lacing .. . aroma of sweet sexy smoke and roasted tar, and a light sweetness .. . great stuff, BUT drink on the warmer side of the scale, when really cold- like a sweet stout, but when cellar temperature, pure bliss that makes my little fella hard .. . worth the wait for this smokehead!! .. .
You know, back in the service we used to have a saying, "You can't expect the troops to salute you if you're sleeping with the sergeant."
What... what branch of the service were you in sir?

12oz bottle. Pours a brown black with a smallish creamy tan head that goes to a thin film that laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet peaty smoky (BBQ and liquid smoke) malts.

The flavor is sweet peaty malts with some smoke. The mouth feel is medium bodied and fairly watery.

Overall, lots of good smoke. It's a bit subdued at time and not much else except smoke. It's also a bit thin and watery.

Very dark brown or extremely dark ruby color with some burnt orange and burnt yellow highlights at the bottom. Tan head that didn't have much retention or girth. A bit of lacing was left on the glass. There is some smoke to the aroma. The smoke, however doesn't seem to be balanced very well with the roasted malt. The smoke almost smells like buttermilk. Chocolate aromas seem to be hidden in the background also. Had to really search for hints of dark fruit. The taste seems to be a bit more balanced, but the smoke is again the dominating factor. No real bitterness in the flavor. Some choclate malt and an earthy tone. Medium mouthfeel. Smooth. Leaves a bit on the palate. A bit of an oily finish. No bitterness left on the tongue either. Fairly creamy also. I'm guessing this was smoked with Peat. Could be wrong, but with the buttermilk type aroma and the earthy taste, it seems to fit the bill. This beer was just ok for me. It was good, but not outstanding. Didn't seem well balanced in the aroma or the taste. I could have a few, but not too many. I hate to score this low because I do love Porters. I say it's above average for the style.

Smoked indeed! Aroma has firm tones of burnt fragrant wood and quality roast coffee, with more than a hint of molasses but no sweetness. It pours just a whisker this side of black with a thick and fairly persistent beige head. Mouth-filling flavor is smoky, mainly high-quality roast coffee with a touch of burnt wood and an undertone of molasses with a sweet hint. There is also a whisper of caramel. Smooth flavor is quite fizzy and lively, leaving behind a strong and pleasant tingle. Recommended.

Pours deep black - if black can be deep - looks awesome with a two-finger tan head that laces well. Smoke, malt, coffee, toffee and chocolate abound in this one. The aroma is absolutely killer - so much so that you almost just want to inhale this one through your nostrils - a delight.

A thin layer of smoke on a bed of chocolate and toast. Medium bodied, mildly creamy, malt driven. Dark brown color, quarter inch settled head and splotchy lacing. Sweet, roasted malt with notes of toffee, molasses and milk chocolate followed by that underlying pleasant smokiness. All in all a nice beer that seems more of a smoked Dunkel.

Dark Coca-Cola brown pour with a thin beige bubbly head which disappears leaving a tight ring and little lacing. Big oak smoke aroma with slight bacon and smoked meats, dark chocolate and sweet and roasted malts. Taste is smoky sweet with a nice chocolate flavor. Big nice and smoky - a barbq man's dream!

This beer pours a black color with a tan colored head. Lacing around the glass sticks nicely. Aroma of smoke, sausages, any type of smoked meat actually. Flvor is smoky and smooth. Really nice beer.

Pours dark brown with dark red highlights. Little to no head. Smells awesome! Chocolate, coffee and deeply roasted malt with smokey overtones on the nose. Tastes as it smells. Smokey taste is not overpowering and adds the complexity of this tasty porter. Mouthfeel is medium with ample (possibly a bit too much) carbonation. This is a style that I haven't had very much of, but this one is certainly a winner.
