pours with a delightful firebrick crimson and with nearly brilliant clarity. A light and creamy off white head caps the beer before relegated to a lace around the glass with broken pockets of foam that lace the glass behind each sip. The aroma is malty-rich and delivers a moderately strong scent of deep caramel, toffee even, along with more robust notes of brown sugar and toasted grain. Sweet breads and light plumby fruitiness round out the malt-forward aromas. The taste starts out with the sweet taste of toffee, brown sugar, and bready malts, the presence of hops aren't noticed until the mid palate introduces sharp citrus zest of oranges, grapefruit, and a spicier piney note that develops into a balanced bitter taste that offsets the malt sweetness in finish and aftertaste. The mouthfel is medium bodied, with light carbonation.
