This sweet stout has been added cold water extract from a Mexican ecological single estate coffee. The result is a discrete coffee aroma that mixes with the slightly burnt licorice aromas from the dark malts combined with spices. The flavor is slightly sweet with an average palate and moderate bitterness and aftertaste.

Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a real dark brown colour with hardly any highlights. Big fizzy light brown head that disappears quickly and no lacing is in sight. The scent is pretty mild with mostly alcohol at first, but goes away with time and very light burnt malt and coffee aromas show up. Watery, watery and watery. Flavours of watered-down roasted malt, nuts and the worst watery coffee you had. Not sure if what I got is the same others got, but this is a rip-off. 10 bucks for a 600ml of this "did I mentioned" - watery brew. 7.5% ABV really ?!!?!

I tried this beer on March 18, 2011 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. One of the ingredients is 'Canadian' maple syrup. Not just any maple syrup, but 'Canadian' maple syrup. The beer poured a solid black colour with a thin tan coloured head. The aroma was roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, milk chocolate, and some spice. The mouthfeel was full bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was sweet, choclatey, with hints of coffee and vanilla. A very well done stout. -

600ml bottle: put a clear dark brown ale with ruby high lighs in the glass. weak heading, poor lacing. Aroma is decent: roast coffee, sweetness not much hopping. Thin mouth feel for a stout...more like a porter...roast coffee character, malts subdued, hops have weak presence...a natural (but not cloying) sweetness pervades...clean fast wet finish. Rather 2 dimensional with sweetness and coffee being the prime elements . Certainly over priced at $10.a bottle....I’ll take Meantime at half the price.

Rich, smoky aroma is strong and has undertones of molasses and unsweetened chocolate as well as a hint of coffee. It pours an opaque sable just a whisker from jet black, and the head is thick and pale tan though not too persistent. Flavor is quite mouth-filling and has elements of fine coffee, unsweetened chocolate, molasses and a teeny bit of caramel. It is a little sweet but not cloying. Texture is smooth and tingly, leaving a smoky, slightly sweet, lip-smacking finish.

600 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown with a thin fizzy head that quickly disappears completely.
The aroma is sweet chocolate, roasted malts, some acidic coffee and some vegetables.
The flavor is sweet chocolate, roasted malts, coffee and maybe a touch of cinnamon with decent bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with no carbonation.
Overall, I've had three bottles of this. I remember really liking the first, but the next two were not as good. This one has some off notes in the nose, and very low fizzy carbonation. I like the chocolate and coffee flavors though. -

A black apperance with a small beige to tan head. The aroma consists of molasses, chocolate, and raisins. I didnt really smell licorice but I sure do taste it. I also pick up on some molasses, dark fruit, and chocolate. A rather syrupy finish to this one. Overall I really enjoyed this beer!

Bottled. Black colour, mediumsized brown bubbly head, which turns into a small steady head above the beautiful liquid. Strong coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla and some syrup in the nose. Flavour is strong dark coffee, some smoked wet wood and roasted malts. The finish gets quite roasted malty, coffeeish as well as some minor notes of dark dry fruits.

Black with a small brown head. Nice aroma of black chocolate and espresso. Reasted coffee beans, spices, hay and chocolate in flavour. Long well roasted finish. Good stout.
