On October 13, 2007, at out Brewery Tenth Anniversary Party (Waffles and Puppets) we’ll introduce Ommegang Chocolate Indulgence Stout to the world. Chocolate Indulgence comes with a thick tan head of foam resting on top of the rich onyx-colored liquid. The aroma immediately speaks of dark chocolate and dark malts. The gentle herbal nose of Perle hops compliments the darker notes, making the beer savory to the senses. The taste continues with the intense Belgian dark chocolate gliding across the tongue; starting sweet up front but giving way to rich cocoa flavors at the back. Through it all, a subtle fruitiness from our special Belgian yeast gives the beer brightness otherwise foreign to a beer style normally associated with gray foggy skies. Lingering chocolate entices the drinker to taste more. Go ahead. Dessert is good for the soul.

Dark brown colour with a medium sized tan head. The head fades but retains most of the way, leaves minimal lacing. Disappointed with the very faint chocolate aroma. Mouthfeel is also a little thin for the style. Roasty and chocolate flavour with some dark fruits and a little bitterness. I quite enjoyed the flavour but the rest of the beer was a bit of a let down. Considering the price, I won't be indulging again.

Opaque black with a generous brown head, it smells of cocoa, smoke, pineapple, clove, and bubblegum. All that comes through in the flavor as well: good cocoa and char on a sweet support structure. A little prickly, loads of lace, thick and chewy, sticky.

Not the mind blowing beer I was hoping for but a decent average stout I guess. The chocolate is more bitter cocoa, not sweet at all. Worked well in this very roasted stout. Not a bad experience just not great either.

I know I will be in the minority here, but I was pretty disappointed with this brew; I think maybe my expectations were too high. Very dark pour with a small brown/tan head. Not as creamy as I was hoping, some dark chocolate flavor as expected. Overall, a little less than I hoped for.

Bottled@The 2nd ES/CS Beer Tasting. (thanks J.S.). Quite much pitch black colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is chocolate, mild roasted malts, liquorice, some toffee as well as coffee and mild nutty notes. Flavour is chocolate, liquorice, roasted malts as well as mild syrupy and sweet maltyness. Quite a bitter finish.

Very, very dark brown. No highlights coming through. A creamy, smooth, tight, khaki colored head. Good retention and nice lacing. Settled to a nice film on top. A nice balanced chocolate smell. Sweet. Milky smelling. Some minor hints of smoke. Some toasty Belgian grain. Light cocoa powder. Smells a tad chalky. The flavor provided a savory chocolate with touches of bitterness. A few hints of roasted coffee bean. Again a slight dry chalkiness. Prevalent toasted grain. The chocolate is not a crazy chocolate bomb, but rather a mild, very pleasant chocolate. A nice medium mouthfeel. Dry and smooth. Not as creamy as the Rogue Chocolate Stout, but still pleasant and enjoyable. Covers the palate fine. Only a small, small touch of warmth. A super easy drink. Easily an "all-nighter." Easy going, tasty, beautiful and well put together. No doubt one that I will pick up again. I love these chocolate beers!!!

This was an absolutely beatiful slab of bittersweet chocolate heaven. The nose and tongue were just covered in the some of the best chocolate I have ever tasted in a beer. The mouthfeel was soft and thick, almost pitch black, with a slight brown head. This beer is apparently about two and a half years old, and still kicking. There is no alcohol nor any kind of hop flavors. I don't know if they just faded into oblivion or if there was nothing there to begin with. Nevertheless, this was fabulous.

Creamy brown-black pour with a nice tan head and plenty of lacing. Chocolate, sweet and roasted malts, a hint of coffee in the aroma. Nice creamy slightly bitter cocoa in the taste with a touch of the coffee and some roasted malts. Nice beer.

This brew poured almost black with a great frothy tan head. The aroma is complex. Sweet malt, some sour cherry and unsweetened chocolate. The flavor was similar. The mouthfeel thin. Overall, I was not impresesed.

I like an escalator because an escalator can never break, it can only become stairs. There would never be an escalator temporarily out of order sign, only an escalator temporarily stairs. Sorry for the convenience. and by the way.. this beer sucks! old smell, great lacing, garbage taste, terrible stuff..
