The first in the Farmhouse Ale Collection Our bottle-conditioned Saison is brewed and crafted in the classic Wallonian-style. Golden yellow in colour with a pillowy white head from the effervescence one may only find as a result of secondary fermentation. Initial flavours of banana, black pepper and citrus fade into a yeast driven earthy character and bone-dry finish. The concentrated effervescence, not only creates body, but also adds a silky, smooth mouthfeel. This quality has earned bottle-conditioned Saisons the reputation for being one of the most versatile beers in the world to pair with food. Ages well for up to two years, with peak drinkability at 1 year.

Bottle. Colour - cloudy dark gold, large white cap, decent lacing. Aroma - light fruit notes, yeast, sour grains, and floral notes. Mouthfeel - light bodied to medium, high carbonation. Flavour - tart fruits, some light spice, and yeast. Not a bad saison. Didn't have the flavour to back up the aroma.

750ml bottle with cork and cage. Thanks to my friend Rob for the share. Pours a nice thick foamy white head that dissipates to a thin coating. Has a slightly cloudy golden orangey appearance. Aromas of wheats and yeast. Flavours are citrus, resin hops, notes of Belgian yeast, hints of spices. Good balance of sweetness and bitterness. Somewhat of a tarty moutheel. Pretty good.

Single bottle from the LCBO, brown, wine-looking with a cork, cage and nice flag label around neck. Pours a hazy golden-yellow colour with a frothy white head, lots of retention and foamy lacing. Beautiful nose of Belgian Ale yeast, spices, oranges, wheat, apples and mild grass. Crisp refreshing mouthfeel with just a tad of dryness. Wheat taste with some peach notes and the grass counter-balancing. Quite a nice saison and my first from this brewery. Really hoping we can try some more from them.

The beer pours a hazed light golden brown with a generous white head. The aroma is honey, funk, yeast, and grains. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is slightly sweet to start with notes of honey, and finishes with a spicy bitterness and the yeast. A pretty good effort. -

Caged Corked Bottle: Pours a roily unfiltered deep gold-amber. 2 finger puffy cap. Aroma - very fresh - succulent fruits, spice, some honey, some sour and hop grassiness nice nose to it. Spritzy dry character. Pleasant flood of flavours meet the palate - fruits. spices, some tartness very "cidery", spicey hops, peppery mith feel, dry lightly bitter-tart finish. Great saison in the Alsace style - in some ways it is reminisant of La Chouffe blonde.
