La Folie Wood-Aged Biere, is our original wood-conditioned beer, resting in French Oak barrels between one and three years before being bottled. Peter Bouckaert, came to us from Rodenbach home of the fabled sour red. Our La Folie emulates the spontaneous fermentation beers of Peter s beloved Flanders with sour apple notes, a dry effervescence, and earthy undertones. New in 2010, we'll do a single bottling of La Folie for the year. Collect the 22oz unique to 2010 designed bottle and start a yearly wood-aged collection of goodness.

One of my favorites! Deep, slightly cloud ruby color with deep deep funky cherry notes in the nose. Tons of complex flavors - exquisite! Next time I visit NB I'm buying a full case.

Excited to finally get to try this for free on my birthday (without opening the bottle in my cellar yet) at Zorbaz. Although I am still a newbie when it comes to sour beers, this was very pleasant. Lots of puckering tartness, sour cherries and apples, faint vinegar, and a bit of oak and vanilla. Look forward to revisiting the 2013 batch in a year or so.

Deep brown pour with tons of carbonation and massive aromas of vinegar and lemons. Highly acidic mouthfeel yet drinkability remains high. Loads of tartess with faint fruit notes - lemons and cherries - and an oaky finish. Extremely dry yet totally awesome. Wonderful stuff.

I had this two nights ago at the Green Dragon in Portland. After having dozens of sour beers around the corner from Cascade, it gets pretty hard to impress me with this style of beer. I'm happy to say that this beer still held up. Dark red brown color with good lacing. Sour cherry aroma. Medium-light body and very tart. Different than what I've gotten used to from Cascade. Nicely balanced, though not as complex as others. Very nice.

This is the first of the style for me so not sure what to expect. A deep hazy brown with just a touch of red. Quick fizzing head that leaves no lacing...so far just what I expected. Scent of sour grapes, some apple and sweetness, like grape flavored big league chew, very lively. Taste and mouthfeel were both quite exceptional and exactly what I was hoping for. Great sour grape and cherry flavor in a really fizzy beer and a wildness that settles out very nicely against a faint malt background. The acidity really kicks you in the teeth and threatens to take your tongue out. This certainly lived up to expectations and was well worth trying.

2011 edition. Mark another off the wish list... Deep amber ruby pour with a thin effervescent head leaving a constant ring and draped lacing. Tart cherry aroma with slight vinegar, sweet woods, a touch of brwon sugar. Taste is intensely tart and sour with a undertone of cherries, oak, brown sugar. Remains fizzy throughout. Intense but very tasty. Excellent.

Pours an opaque dark chocolate brown with a fine-bubbled tan head. Aroma is strong, rich and fruity. Pleasantly sour flavor is strongly of sour apple and quite fierce - those who love sour ales should flip over this one! Texture is fairly smooth and nicely tingly.

A beer that I've heard so much about over the years. So it was a real pleasure to finally try this at the Map Room this past weekend. On draught, this beer pours a dark amber with a two finger sized white head. Aroma is really fantastic. Sour, lambic characteristics with that cherry, yeasty, floral grapey like flavors. It was an impressive beer but a little more sour then most of the flemish sours ive had. Tastey beer for sure.

I’ve wanted to try this one so I was happy to be able to bring back a bottle while traveling. The aroma is of wild berries, some vinegar with toasty caramel sneaking in there. Dark reddish-brown pour with a thin tan head that doesn’t stick around too long. This is very puckery tasting up front with sour berries and some apple and vinegar notes. The flavor is long-lasting into the finish which is a touch dry. There’s a sour burn in the senses while drinking this. This is good but it didn’t overly excite me as despite being really puckery and tart it seems a bit straight forward and not all that complex. Perhaps the intense sourness masks some of the other stuff going on.

Perhaps it was just the right time for this to be the right beer, but I truly think this is just one remarkable sour that would never let me down. Dark caramel, amber-brown colored body with a filmy head and minor spots of lacing. Amazing acidic aroma of tart cherries, red wine and comforting vinegar. Medium bodied and the sourness attacks the taste buds, it's a full on assault, very zesty feeling. Sips wonderfully and makes the mouth water wishing for more. Prominent sour cherry flavor with a sour mash and woody taste. Port wine that has started to turn perhaps. This is a wonderful creation, one of the richest and all around pleasing sour ales I've tried to date.
