Roll out the Barrel: 5.4% Alcohol by Volume & 22 IBU's; This American style porter has complex malt flavor, while still delivering supreme drink-ability. Quality Supreme: Crafted in small batches at Trinity Brew House in Providence, RI and Cottrell Brewery in Pawcatuck, CT under the supervision of Brewmaster Sean Larkin. It is brewed with summit hops, and black malt, pale malt, roasted barley and ale yeast, then dry hopped with Amarillo hops. Taste & Enjoy: Gansett Porter offers another extremely approachable craft experience unlike many of the overly smoky or bitter Porters on the market today. The Narragansett Porter has a deliciously mild chocolate malt-driven flavor with just a hint of smokiness and hops to balance out the finish. The History: Narragansett Brewing Company sold a Porter for decades dating back to the 1940's & '50's, which could often be found on tap as "Narragansett Dark". It was beloved in the Portuguese fishing communities of Fall River and New Bedford, MA, but it was not a true porter. Under the direction of Falstaff, Narragansett abandoned the porter style in the late '70's, but today it is back and better than ever. As a tribute to the old "Gansett Dark", today's Narragansett Porter is milder and more refreshing than most, but it is a true porter with greater flavor and complexity than its predecessor. Great With: Barbecue, Brie, Gouda, Havarti, Swiss, Chocolate Desserts, Beef, & Smoked or Grilled Meats.

Nothing really exciting here. Creamy texture with some decent chocolate malt, and a little bit of hop...but the balance not really working for me. Appearance is dark black...nice textured head which tricks you into thinking this will be solid. Not bad, but forgettable.

No secret this is one of my favorite styles. So would I be more discerning? Perhaps. This one starts well. A black jewel on pour. There's a big foamy textured, beige head rising above. There's decent hang time. Settles into a medium sized ringley with splotches of film aside the glass. The nose and flavor are consistant, for the most part. Simple in this case is good, roasted malt and light coffee. Now it's low points. Low carbonation and light to medium body. Overall a pleasant drink.
