This bright golden pale ale is reminiscent of old world brewing tradition. When drinking the ale savor the caramel malts, imported east Kent goldings hops, and the classic slight buttery aftertaste imparted by authentic London ale yeast. Periodically, you'll find us serve a "cast-conditioned" Pale Ale version of our Goat Hill, if you're patient and search hard enough. This beer derived its name from the location of our Capital building--sitting on top of a Montgomery hill were goats once grazed.

On a recent trip to Montgomery, I had the chance to try a few of the Montgomery offerings. This poured a golden red colour with a decent sized white head. The head didn't last very long however. The aroma was citrusy and full of hops. The flavour was not as bitter as the aroma would indicate.

This will end my exploration of the Montgomery Brewing Company deep within the "Wasteland of Beer Brewing" in Southern Alabama and I am happy to report, there is a small outpost trying their very best to represent Alabama's brew scene. Aroma is nicely hoppy as well as bitter with some hues of grapefruit and dried hop flowers. Appearance is a rustic-orange in color with a medium-sized head on top that is bleach-white in color. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with nice hoppy complexity as well as balance and has a palate that is sharp and clean. Flavor is hoppy and bitter as well as of grapefruit with an aftertaste that is a tad malty and a finish that is refreshing and smooth. Overall, probably the best beer from these guys by a long shot.

Poured an amber type color with a mediocre initial head and weak lacing. The aroma was of caramel and some herbal and resinous tones. The flavor was pretty strong caramel for the style, coming off almost like there was really caramel candy in it initially. After a while (temp), the hops caught up, but this wouldn't please a true hop head. Balanced.

Pale, clear copper with the same frothy head as the others. Good herbal hops in the nose. The malt isn’t as big as in the Millenium Ale at Coast, but this one is more bitter. Good, crisp lingering bitterness takes over after the malt peks in the middle.

Very pleasantly surprised. While this wasn't very dark in color, it had a lovely floral aroma, and a nice hops bite. Clean and sweet, it was a pleasant little brew to help me forget I was stuck in Montgomery, Alabama. I'd recommend it if you're stopping through.
