Had a pint at the Ottawa brewpub. Head is a pretty big creamy off white thick coat. Has a dark brown appearance. Thick dirty lacing. Has strong vanilla aromas and roasted malts. Flavours are dark roasted malts, light chocolate, mild vanilla with hints of light coffee. Has great retention and a smooth mouthfeel. Mildly spiced and in the aftertaste as well. Perfect winter warming type beer.

Brown body complete with a thick creamy cap. Smells good! Vannilla and cherry, milk chocolate..... is this ice cream? Taste ok.....kind like a porter mixed with cherry cough syrupe.....why? And why is that not bad. Mild coffee, strong vanilla, milk chocolate, raspberry. Comes across sweet, maybe a touch thin. Drinkable but i’m happy with my small glass.

At the brewpub in Ottawa, 2012 Christmas edition. Pours a clean copper colour with a creamy nitro head that gives out creamy lacing. Big vanilla bean aroma with light roasted malt eventually appearing as the brew warms up. Nicely balanced between the chocolate malt and vanilla. Very mild hop in the finish with hints of caramel. Very easy-drinking, with a wet mouthfeel. The vanilla is present everywhere in this brew, and it smoothes everything. Wish this was available year-round.

On Tap: dark brown hazy in the glass with a decent tan cap. Big vanilla in the nose along with roasty malts and some sweetness. Flavor is almost the same as the aroma with less vanilla and more coffee-roasty tones. A nice flavored porter, perhaps a tad thin but good pub fare.

Shared with cyrenaica in 2011. This is a great tasting porter. Nicely balanced between the sweetness of the vanilla and roasted malt that normally defines a porter. Certainly not as overpowering as other porters.

I tried this beer on tap on February 10, 2011 at "C'est What" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a dark blackish-brown, with clear edges, and creamy off-white head that lasted throughout. The aroma was roasted malt, vanilla, and some weak hops. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and creamy with mild carbonation. The flavour was sweet malt, roasted malt, and vanilla. Sweet, but not sickingly so. Very refreshing and drinkable.
