Rugged yet smooth, Kodiak Brown Ale balances caramel and roasted malts with enticing Northwest hops. Perle and Willamette hops accent without overpowering this American brown ale's intrepid maltiness. The result is uniquely delicious. Inspired by the adventurous spirit readily found in Alaska, Kodiak Brown Ale invites you to take the road less traveled. Kodiak has remained one of our most popular beers since we first fired up the brew kettle in 1995, proving that Alaskans are not afraid of the dark. Pair Kodiak Brown Ale with comfort foods—macaroni and cheese, lasagna, burritos; pub grub—burgers, nachos, deep-fried bites—and just about anything prepared on the grill. You can also just kick back and enjoy a tall cool one when you want to relax and enjoy LiFe. Availability: AK - 22-oz bottles and draft (year-round) WA, OR, CA - 22-oz bottles (year-round)

Pours out a cloudy dark brown color with a thin tan head. The aroma is nutty and malty. The mouthfeel is just a little over average. The taste is very smooth even though the hops are right up front.

i like this brewer, but this one really doesn't do much to seperate itself. fizzy light texture and body, with carmel malt, slight nuttiness and a splash of hops in the flavor and aroma. not bad, but not a standout.

What in the world? After nine reviews, no one has reviewed this beer in a 5 days shy of 5 years? Odd. Well, I had it on tap at the Green Dragon in Portland last week. Dark brown color with offwhite head and light lacing. Mostly a malty aroma, but pretty weak. Light medium body and a plain hop texture. Sweet malt flavor with a hop backing. Hints of coffee after a while helped nudge it up a little, but otherwise a very lackluster beer.

Lovelly looking ale, a nice dark brown with a fantastiuc thick and frothy tan head. Good malty /nutty aromas, faint scent of chocoalte and some whiffs of hop. Smooth and malty flavours dominate but after a while hazelnut and a slight fruitiness appear and a small hop "kick" at the end. Very nice indeed on the palate, very smooth and satisfying. A good rendition of this style and very drinkable. A recommended brown ale.

This one is an attractive mahogany with an ok yellowish head. The flavor was malty, brown sugar, but had a bit of twang that I didn’t really like. It was a bit of a surprise as the rest of their beers are excellent. It wasn’t an overwhelming sourness, but just a little bit off that kept it from reaching its potential.

Clear brown pour with a fading head.Malty nose with a watery thin body. Some roasted malt flavor but nothing substantial.

Not bad, but, but I would be wholly remiss in not stating what I feel is the one weaknesses with ths particular beer. Namely, not nearly filling enough in the mouthfeel. All other aspects of this beer come through, with more or less flying colors, but with the mouthfeel thin and fairly lifeless, it drags many of the scores down with it IMO.
I thought the appearence and smell to be on-track, and the overall flavor profile to be decent enough. But with the mouthfeel way too thin for my liking, the overall drinkability seems a bit lacking.
I've enjoyed this brewerie's IPA's and forrays into making Belgian-style beers, but this particular Brown ale does very little for me in the Endgame.

Red brown color, medium head. Nice mild malts, mildly hopped with a slight toffee flavor. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is smooth, no bitterness.

I found this a pretty tasteful brew.Walnut aroma. Deep brown color. Nice blending of malt flavors. Rich nut flavor. slow roasted like chestnuts, Fruity, caramel- sweet....... some earthy notes......... Slightly peppery hops to start but give way nicely for a smooth, surprisingly clean finish for all that nuttiness
