2008 bottle from the lower depths of my dusty basement. Probably shouldn't of sat on this one. Hope I remember to post a fresh review on RB should I survive this current encounter. Muddy amber brown body. Lots of ugly, sticky, patchwork lace. Smells of toasty brown bread & bittersweet sage. Taste is surprisingly decent. Initial bready sweetness quickly turns dry & crackery. Mild pithy bitterness & slightly medicinal. The oxidation is being covered up nicely, but begins to peek through as it warms up. Sharp sweetness & leafy greens on this finish. Soft to middling carbonation. The body has thinned with age, but still retains some starchiness. I'm amazed. I'm not a Middle Ages fan, even when fresh. I was expecting this to mutate into something horrible, but it's borderline great.

The graphic suggests a woman that you would find in a deck of tarot cards rather than the label of a beer bottle. Not the best double IPA I've ever had, but still a good beer nonetheless. A cloudy red pour with a tan coloured head. Sweet caramel malt dominates the aroma, with a hint of citrusy hops, but no pine. Flavour is somewhat subdued with the hoppy bitterness found in other double IPAs balanced by the caramel sweetness of the malt.

This is a Double IPA like Justin Timberlake is heavy metal. But alas this one poured a dark amber to brown color. The flavor isnt exactly "screaming" with hops, more like "screaming" with malt with a nice hoppy backbone. Alot of caramel and dark fruits such as raisins coming through. A bit of citrus shows through as well. Some alcohol in the finish. Overall regardless of the style this was a nice beer.

Pours a dark ruby with thick, creamy tan head. Aroma is grassy hops and bitter. Delicious taste--bitter, floral hops, some malty sweetness. Finishes a bit spicy with a nice alcohol kick. Definitely a sipping beer.

A powerful beer that I would not consider to be an imperial/double ipa. Even though there were lots of citrusy hops present it did not overpower the food I was eating because the hops were counteracted by the strong alcohol content. All in all it was a delicious beer.

Bottle (Courtesy of Hogtownharry): Poured a clear light brown color ale with a small foamy head with low retention. Aroma of citrus hops is dominating. The taste is also dominated by the citrus hops but is lacking in malt balance. Body is about average with no alcohol noticeable. This beer while lacking in malt balance IMO is still very enjoyable.

This brew has a great full color, which is the first thing you notice. Second is the full thick head, and third the great, enticing aroma. The flavor is very full, creamy and slightly sweet. Like most beers from M.A. it has a strong hoppy finish. GREAT beer.

This one is a very dark ruby with a sizeable khaki milk foam of a head. Really gorgeous this one. The aroma is heavily perfumed with lemon pepper and grass hops that tingle the nose. Beneath that is a warm maltiness mingling with alcohol and that butterscotch house character of Middle Ages. The flavor is sweet, but not cloying, balanced by a good bitterness from the hops. I don’t know if I’d call it a Double IPA, but it’s a very good American Strong Ale.

I liked the dark copper color that this poured. The thick head added to an overall very nice appearance. The aroma upon opening the bottle was strong-and while the taste was on the strong side as well it wasn't harsh.

Poured a dark copper color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of grapefruit, citrus hops, some caramel malts as well. More caramel in the taste, bitter citrus hops, light alcohol finish.
