Pours a dark brown with an off white head that takes it time. Aroma is fairly weak with hints of roasted malts. taste is fairly bland with hints of roasted malts and it is slightly smokey. A tad creamy. Aftertaste lingers for a bit. Not very good but not entirely bad.

Balance not the best here for a stout. Flavor leaning on the sweet side (molasassy, and could use some more hops...does not seem like "just the right amount"....not to me at least. Enjoyable to drink, as the oatmeal texture/flavor is nice. But besides that and a decent mouthfeel, this is forgetable. My first few samples from this brewer were hits, but lately some misses starting to sneak in.

A jet blck colored beer with a barely discernable head that is foamy, and light beige. It disappears quickly leaving hardly any lacing. This is it's low point. There is a vanilla sweetness in a dominate coffee/chocolate presence. The body is fill and creamy. I paired this one with a rum raisin ice cream for a great beer float.

Sampled on 3/26/2011. This oatmeal stout pours a dark black color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized, tan foamy head. The aroma is chocolate and coffee, with a hint of vanilla. Medium to full bodied Oatmeal Stout. The malts are chocolate and coffee with hints of vanilla. The hops are herbal and earthy. Decent carbonation. Seems a little thin for an oatmeal stout. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Pours an almost carbon black brown. Very toasty flavor, with a hint of sweetness to round things out. Not too expensive but unfortunately a seasonal offering with somewhat limited distribution.

this was a bit disappointing. It was not as sweet as oatmeal stouts usually are, and the mouthfeel was rather thin, especially for an oatmeal stout. Nice dark black color. Tastes of roasted malts and coffee, bittersweet chocolate. Rather unpleasant, and very dry.

bought this one only cuz it was a cheap single, but man, was i surprised. thoroughly tasty oatmeal stout. super smooth, dark, and velvety. roasted malt, a little coffee and chocolate in the aroma and flavor...just in the right amounts. these days, probably mendo's best.

Oil black pour with a thin but sustained tan head and ring leaving copious amounts of lacing. Toasted malts, burnt brown sugar, very slight coffee and dark chocolate in the aromas. Velvety smooth mouthfeel. Taste is a tad weak but still nice with toasted malts, molasses, semi-sweet chocolates and very slight hops finish. Very drinkable but not outstanding.
